My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary a few months ago and we have no children. It's been by choice and has worked out well for us. We are still able to have fun with our friend's kids and that has been enough to give us our occasional "kid fix".
I would also suggest antiqueradios.com as a resource. They have a forums section and the people there are very good about answering questions. There's even an OTR section to the forum!
I watched this on one of the cable movie channels also. Although I liked the cast and thought the performances were good, I was a little disappointed in the movie after reading the book. It seems like that is often the case for me.
If you are fan of Joseph Mitchell's writing, Joe Gould's...
Hi John,
If you would like the McSorley's book I would be happy to send it to you. Let me know and it will be coming your way. I tried to send you a PM but I don't seem to have access to that feature. Maybe not enough posts? Anyway, let me know.
I just finished McSorley's Wonderful Saloon by Joseph Mitchell. I really enjoyed this book and especially like Mitchell's writing style.
Up next is Angel of Darkness, Caleb Carr's follow-up to The Alienist.
Count me among those annoyed by all the noise. It really is sensory overload. Cell phone conversations, unruly kids, loud music everywhere you go. It seems as though the cell phones have kind of isolated the ones who are talking on them. They get so focused on the conversation that they...
I listen mainly to XM satellite radio now. They have several stations of Christmas music that tends to cover most of the different musical genres. There's something for everyone and you can listen in whatever size dose is right for you. Once I get a little tired of Christmas music I can turn...
Hamandbacon,
I received my AMT-3000 and have been using it for about six weeks. I am very impressed with the quality and performance. I hooked it up to my computer and am able to transmit mp3 files, cds, XM radio, and other internet radio. It has good coverage and I am able to tune in any...
I rarely listen to AM and FM radio anymore. It seems that most of the stations I used to listen to have all been acquired by big conglomerates/corporatons like ClearChannel.
The AM stations have almost all gone to a talk and political format. This format doesn't appeal to me at all. Most...

I know exactly what you mean about Prednisone. I was off of it for about 2 years and now have begun having a relapse of my disease. I had to start back on at a dose of 100 mg/day and now I am hungry all the time! Not to mention the insomnia and other good side effects.
Today was good though...
One of my hobbies is old radios and I found Fedora Lounge while googling for radios. I've been reading and enjoying many of the threads and am really impressed with the sense of community here.
I have XM in the car and in the house. I like the decades (40's 50's, etc) channels on XM as well as "Frank's Place" and the Radio Classics channel.
My wife enjoys the wide variety of country programming also. There definitely seems to be something for everyone!
Hi everyone, it's my first post here.
It sounds like digital radio is here to stay. Some broadcasters say it will help bring music back to AM due to better sound quality. I still prefer the sound of my tube radios.
I just ordered an AMT-3000 transmitter and I'm hoping it will be...
