Satellite Receivers: Your Opinion

I have Sirius satellite radio and like the programming, but my receiver broke and I am tired of dealing with their customer service. Eventually, I'd like to get a new receiver to listen to either XM or Sirius.

Do you have a satellite receiver? Are you happy with it? How long have you had it? Any other recommendations? Thanks!

I have an XM radio, I've had it for 3 1/2 years, and I really enjoy it. I've talked to people who've had Sirius, and the big difference seems to be what specialty programming you want. There is a lot of overlap in the musical and news programming. Sirius has Howard Stern, which isn't that big a selling point for me, but I know it is for others. Sirius has the NFL, and XM has MLB. I probably spend more time waching football than baseball, but I'm more likely to listen to a baseball game. I'm not often in my car when the NFL is on, but baseball is on all the time.

I've had both XM and Sirius, right now i've switched almost completely to Sirius. The only music channels that XM has over Sirius IMHO are their decades channels and their Cinimagic channel (movie themes).

Otherwise I'm enjoying Sirius alot more for their NFL and talkshows.

What models of receivers do you have? Sirius sent me a replacement receiver for the one that broke, but the home docking kit I have doesn't fit it and they didn't sent a new one. Besides, I've read about problems with the receiver they sent, so I REALLY don't feel like spending $50 on a new docking kit.

That's why I'd like to know about the receivers themselves. I really like the programming at Sirius, and I'm sure I'd like XM, too. I listen to 40s and 50s music and classical pops, mostly.

Any receiver info would be very helpful.

I have XM, and like it. The programming between XM and Sirius seems comparable, with only a few differences. Sirius has NPR and XM doesn't, but that's not that big a deal to me because you can get NPR on FM almost everywhere anyway.

XM has one BIG bonus to me, the Radio Classics channel, that I think many here would appreciate. It's not music, it's the old radio serials. To quote XM's site:
Relive the Golden Age of Radio with all the greats: Abbott and Costello, Burns and Allen, Jack Benny, The Shadow, and The Lone Ranger. Hear classic murder mysteries, radio noir, comedy, thrillers and science fiction.

I listen to this regularly.

I have XM in the car and in the house. I like the decades (40's 50's, etc) channels on XM as well as "Frank's Place" and the Radio Classics channel.

My wife enjoys the wide variety of country programming also. There definitely seems to be something for everyone!
