My ANJ-3 has this on the cuffs - and I don't mind at all.
As the reply states, and IMHO, it'll blend in with the wear and scuffs to come and merely adds some unintentional character; but that's me as my jacket was originally wartime issue and was traditionally in harm's way and it's the look I...
I know - a C3 over an A2 is a surprisingly good combo, isn't it ? It'll give you more wear from your faithful A2 come the colder Autumn days ... Good for you.
The weather here ?
Well, three weeks ago I was happily wearing my B3 on the morning dog walks.
Spring was perfect for my ANJ-3 -...
Ah yes, it's the office setting. My standard retort is a bit gruff there for non-strangers.
I'd go with: "Shouldn't you be shopping in Walmart? Why don't you go and buy something else that says Made In China on the label and support a dictatorial communist state that gladly tramples on the...
My favourite and INSTANTLY delivered retort:
"And you look like a bucket of $hit!"
That tends to shut them right up - I admit, it's gruff and not like me at all, but really. If you can't say something positive, then just be quiet and look like everyone else. Some sheeple.
From...
Just to show you - this is my Aero C3 over my ELC RW B3 which is for those ridiculously cold pre-dawn dog walks when the wind-chill is below -25C.
To me, this feels like the next best thing to still being in bed!
Another one I've not heard of (Appt. In London) ! Will add to my Amazon.co.uk wish list ! And I've not seen Angels One Five since was a nipper, so I reckon I'll have another look at that one too. Thank you! :)
I hope you like Sole Survivor.
It was made in 1970 - and has a similar storyline...
An outlaw biker ? Cool ! :)
Yep, some people just can't rock tattoos properly. "A man has to know his limitations" as "Dirty" Harry Callaghan said. That would be me then.
Thanks for the tip on "Way To The Stars". I'd not heard of it - I looked it up on Amazon.co.uk and it looks just like...
Well, there's no rush is there? You can add a patch at any time. Better to just enjoy wearing it for now and add something later if you feel that inclination. I don't know about others here, but for me, putting insignia on a jacket is as close to getting a tattoo as I'll get !
But I understand...
Over the years, I've spent the best part of 5K with ELC and have an Irvin, A2, B6, B3, Buzz L2, a Luftwaffe and have an ANJ-3 from Aero - and I sometimes wonder - like you - but what if I could only have ONE. Which would I choose?
And, for me, the logical choice would be perhaps my least worn...
Absolutely fascinating !!! And you were so concise in your how-to demo. Many thanks for taking some considerable time to put this together ... I've come across some old G1 jackets at reasonable prices before and dismissed them - but now I'd be somewhat inclined to look at some of them with...
And you may like to check out www.italianpatchmaker.it to see Roberto Bandecca's patch work - he did the patches for the A2s for the principal actors of Red Tails and he can "age" them too.
He did the patches for my ANJ-3 and is a total pleasure to work with - and each patch is around $40-$50...
Hmmm. Re-reading your reply Foster, I'm pondering on this again and you remind me that yes, from the research I did, the different style of wind flaps could be connected to the distribution of the ANJ-3 as you say - as some had USN painted beneath the collar and those were intended for the navy...
Hi Ross,
Fantastic A2 ! Wow. It's a beauty alright with that excellent jacket art. I know you must be completely proud to own such a unique piece with such sentimental value. Good for you for thinking of reproducing it to honour your grandfather ...
If I may though, I'm not quite sure what...
Thanks for the kind comments ...
And your artist looks to be really good. That's a perfect-looking AAF patch to me ! Perfect colour and designwork. Nice one!
As I always say, I don't necessarily count myself among the stitch-counting fraternity as there were always anomalies amongst the...
Yes Edward, they were originally worn UNDER the B3 along with the sheepskin over-trousers - so it was a combo.
I came to Canada in 1996 with the best British clothing for the worst British winter: wholly inadequate. I froze my A$$ for two long winters and I was MISERABLE. I quickly discovered...
