Bell P59 Ariacomet
This one is not really my all time favorite but a very historic aircraft that not many people know about. It was the USA's first fighter jet that was secretly being tested during WWII. The war ended before it actually saw combat. It is the Bell P59 Ariacomet. After this came...
Personally I prefer 45 ACP but believe accuracy is most important. If you are not comfortable with a 45 and can shoot a 9mm better then go with it.
For concealed carry it is hard to beat a 1911 style pistol because of the slim width. Of course it is thin because it is a single stack pistol so...
I've been thinking about buying a new Borsalino Alessandria from Bencraft Hatters but they don't have good pictures of all the colors. What color would be the closest to Silverbelly? The Light Gray maybe? If someone could post a picture of a new one that would be great. Thanks for your help.
Resistol San Antonio
I posted this a few days ago hoping to get an approximate age. Since nobody took a guess I thought I'd try again. Anybody have an idea of the date of the liner below? There are more pictures of the hat on the previous page. Thanks.
For sale is a brand new Akubra Campdraft Deluxe in size 60 (7 1/2). This is the deluxe model Campdraft made with Heritage Grade Felt and a little nicer leather sweatband than the standard Campdraft. It is Silverbelly in color which is the only color the deluxe model comes in. I bought the hat...
Resistol San Antonio
Below is an older Resistol I recently purchased. It doesn't have any style name in it but it appears to be a San Antonio style hat. Could any of the Resistol experts here give me an approximate date of manufacture based on the liner? Thanks.
I guess every hat is a little different but I could not get my 7 3/8ths over the 23 inch shaper without the risk of ripping the sweatband apart. I didn't want to force it so maybe it would have worked. I don't know what to tell you now Erehwon. I've only worked on a couple of hats so maybe you...
I am about the same size as you (7 3/8) and the 23" will work in at hat without a sweatband. I use the 22 1/2" for working on a hat with the sweatband still on.
I forgot to mention that before I bought one of the hat shapers I was able to smooth out a crown on a hat that had some wrinkles in it by just using a smaller piece of firm plastic I held inside the hat and smoothed the wet felt on the outside. It certainly doesn't work as good as a hat shaper...
You might. Even though it is folded out it might not stretch enough because it is still stitched in. If it is an older sweatband you may not want to fold it out or stretch it much because it can be easily damaged.
I have bought from them before and they are usually very prompt at returning your email. Maybe they are away. I got the impression they are a small family business. Once you decide what you want they will send you a PayPal invoice.
My experience with the straight sided dome has been like...
I purchased the Napa Stetson Straw hat in the link below from Miller Hats. It came in yesterday afternoon and it is a very nice "softer" Panama straw hat with dimensions closer to a true Stratoliner. The brim is 2 3/4" but is not bound. The black thin ribbon on mine is leather but you can order...
