I just took a look at Armscor's website and the home page states that they manufacture their firearms from investment castings and CNC machinery. Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest
I made them an offer on a hat that was very reasonable and not too much lower than their BIN. They counter offered with a very small discount and the last time I looked the hat is still there. They have some nice hats for sale but I haven't seen any that I was following sell. -

For what it is worth, I have a Canadian Stetson with the same sizing tag behind the sweatband. Maybe they used that tag in the UK too. You should start a new thread on the hat and I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable collectors could give you some more information. Great hat you have. -

Bond, that is a great looking Resistol. I'd love to find a Resistol like that. Welcome Lecky, great looking hat. If I had to guess I would say early 50's on the date but I'm no expert. I'm interested in seeing what the more knowledgeable members say about the date. -

Colt are forged steel. I'm not sure about Rock Islands though. I would think they probably are too. They are made by Armscor in the Phillipines and have a very good reputation.- Landman

If you take your time and look around you can find a nice used Colt in the $600 to $800 range. Bud's Gun Shop online has pretty good prices when they have new Colts in stock. Thanks again. "Cord" makes more sense than "Ply". I'd love to find some of the 3-cord ribbon. I think that really looks great on older hats. -

Buggnat, That's a nice looking Compact. Rock Island makes a very reliable and reasonably priced pistol. They are hard to beat for the price. 2-Ply Hat Band
Thanks for the info. What is the proper name of that type of ribbon? I have done numerous searches on the internet and can't seem to find anything similar to it. I found 1/4" grosgrain ribbon but it is not the same as the 2-Ply type ribbon found on most western style hats. -

Does anybody know a source for the basic 2-Ply hat bands put on most cowboy hats? I need to replace some black and silver 2-Ply bands on some old hats and would like to do it myself if I can find some of it. I can easily find grosgrain ribbon but am having trouble finding the 2-Ply band. Thanks...
