Johnny, The hat opening is 6 1/2" by 8". The brim length is 2 5/8". The front and back of the crown is 4 1/2" as creased. The high point of the crown is about 5" as creased. JT, My experiences with vintage Open Roads is very similar. Everyone seems different but the sweatbands all seemed to shrink a little with time and wear. That is why I was curious if the Campdraft might do the same. -

I haven't tried them just because I prefer not to use them. My experience with similar type strips in the past is that they seem to distort the sweatband. Also, this hat seems so big I think it probably wouldn't help. I really don't want to do anything to affect the hat until I decide for sure... -

Thanks. That is great to hear. I currently have 6 or 7 old Open Roads and love the feel of the old felt. I can't understand why Stetson makes the new Open Roads so stiff. If they would go back to a soft open crown I bet they would sell like hot cakes. -

Stetson Stratoliner Milan {modern}
Yes, it is brown and looks just like the one in the picture except it also had a little brown cloth tag that had Stetson on it just below the bow. I didn't like it so I just removed it. It was lightly glued on. Sorry I don't have a camera handy or I would take some pictures. -

I saw that hat too but unfortunately it was not my size either. Beautiful hat. He didn't mention in the description that it is a San Antonio style hat but I assume it is since it is a Resistol. I'd love to find one in my size. -

Rodkins, that is a great hat. If that hat was standard issue to the game wardens in Colorado then they definitely have good taste.
