I tried an adventurer on at the Minnesota State Fair on Friday, then my Federation arrived Saturday- they are very similar but the adventurer is much stiffer and comes pre-bashed. It also seems to have a shorter crown but that could be me. Very nice hat though.

I think you and I are right on the edge- I'm 58.5 and I have at least .5 cm worth of stuffing under the band (fore and aft- the sides fit fine, my head must be more oval than I thought). It is getting smaller though, but how far it'll go I have no idea. Right now it's very comfortable, but I...
I'm thinning the herd a bit to pay for my new Akubra
1) Vintage Resistol bound brim fedora, size 7 1/8. Good condition with no nips or holes. The liner has shrunk up a bit away from the sweatband. $25
2) Czech made wool felt, grey w/o liner also about 7 1/8. It looks blueish in the pics but...
Just got my Fed Regular on Saturday. It's a 59, which may still be a bit big, but we'll see- I have foam packing in the sweatband and it already seems to be conforming to my head and shrinking a bit. I ordered it Monday, it was here Saturday, can't say enough good things about hatsdirect.com...
I was trying to figure out my digital camera and came up with this- the pants are vintage WW2 officers' "pinks", the jacket an Aero A-2.
Note the bored border collie on the floor...

Thought this might be useful for some of us other nutters. I ordered my first Federation Regular on Friday after I got home from work. By 10 P.M I had TWO replies about sizing- and I didn't even ask them a question!
First response:
[[Hello Mark,
many thanks for your order.
We have...
I've got a 58.5 noggin and I just ordered a Fed regular- based on Deb at Hatsdirect's recommendation I'm going to get a 59- I'll post pics in a week...

Geez- I was the only kid in Duluth MN with a mohawk, what's this whole "scene" thing you guys speak of...
When we wanted to get into trouble with other kids we had to take the bus to Minneapolis, but when we got there it was usually either too damn hot and humid or too cold to do any serious...
Military Visor and Crush Caps
I've been collecting uniforms for quite a while- these hats are my favorites out of the collection.
These are three WW2 era 'crush" style hats. The khaki on the left is an unissued officers visor from 1948. It's not a true crush cap in that you can't roll the...
So I'm unpacking after our move and I stacked all the hats up on my drafting table- I haven't gone through them entire in quite a while.
I have 27 frickin hats! And that doesn't count the baseball style or motorcycle helmets (plus an old US steel pot helmet with liner).
Fedora's, ranchers...

Getting back into flight jackets has started me collecting uniforms again. I seem to be having a good run with Korean war-era gear lately. This is an early uniform set from R.M. Sumner, a USAF major, dated 1951. It has the blue wool tunic (size 43XL),trousers,and garrison hat (with rank and...
Awesome- Thanks for the info. My brother bought a new Aero from Mark Moye, had nothing but good things to say about him and the whole experience.
Can you post a pic of your jacket?

Another option for a repro is the one made by www.whatpriceglory.com
I bought one of the first generation jackets about 4 years ago. the current ones are even nicer. I think it's a good deal for about $360 U.S.
BTW can you guys tell me if any of your shots approximate the true color of an...
Mine are almost as bad- but our jackets may be made to different patterns. Epalett length up the middle is 8" width tapers from 1.75" at the shoulders to 1.25" at the collar.
