Yeah, that was just pure luck- went to a small military collectors show and found them all on the same rack. The shirt is not really elastique though, it's closer to the tan summer weight wool material but in the "pink" shade. The dark pants are more towards the green end of the spectrum, but it...
I picked these up last weekend- two pairs of officer's wool elastique trousers, one light O.D. and one dark, and one "pink" shirt- all in my size. Intersting the varying quality of the trousers- these two were are custom made by a local St Paul clothier and are heavier and higher quality than my...
You can get a little out of it, but in my experience the thicker leather will not shrink as much as an A-2 or something similar. If it's a quality jacket go for it- if it drys out a little put some pecards on afterwords. I think the only leather that would truly be damaged by any kind of hot...
Keeping the old thread alive...
This is my small collection
The usual selection of crush caps, etc. The green hat next to the B-6 gunners cap (eastman repro) is a CCC winter cap dated June 24 1941. Used to see these around but the source must have dried up.
These are two unissued...
comparison between two shades of "pinks"
Here's another good color comparison. Two shades of O.D. number 53 and one of number 51. Note how pink the shirt is compared to the trousers- i dind't realize they were so pronounced. BTW the shirt is a 16.5X35 (my size) and is quite snug, but still...
Tariacuri's review pretty much says it all, but here are a couple pictures of Johns' two pre-production Dubows. I'm 6' with a 44" chest and Chris is 5'11" with a 43" chest. Both jackets are 48's that have been shrunk down to around a 46.
Both jackets have almost the same measurements posted...
Yeppers- it really gets fun (and is maybe just a little disturbing) when a person gathers enough knowlege about these things to be able to spot the little details a mile off...:)

This is a series of photo's I scanned from a post war commemerative yearbook for the 95th BG. Some amazing stuff and it includes aspects of base operations you don't see much of- security, administration, motorpool, etc...
I think you could lose an inch in the shoulders and arms but that might make the belly too tight. As for the "authentic fit' I can show you pictures of every imaginable fit on guys (and girls) during the war, from obviously too bit to far too small. The majority were in between, with some...
My favorite pair of trousers is a pair of officers' "pinks" (light O.D. shade). The cut and proportions are just about perfect on me. What do the repro makers (eastman, WPG, etc.) use for their officers' shirts? I know the Eastman Rangoon shirt has a good rep.
That zipper on the dark O.D...

Does anyone have any care/restoration suggestions for old rubberized riding coats? I have an old full-length French coat that is showing very small cracks- almost a crazing effect.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Mark
Looks like a great fit- the shoulders will stretch out as you wear it in. I really like the color too. Interesting to compare yours to an Aero of Scotland jacket- the quality is there (Aero makes GREAT jackets), but the pattern has been enlarged in the shoulders, giving the shoulder droop and...
I have to agree with both sides- I'm a jacket nerd now but I didn't start out that way. My first A-2 was a Cooper bought in 1988 and I just received my Goodwear Dubow last week. It's like any hobby, the more you get into it the more you realize how intricate the subject is. Back when I bought...
