This is the wife and I at our wedding last Oct. One of my favorite shots of the bunch. Outside the Lexington bar on Grand Ave in St Paul, MN.
This is the dog. Vintage style and border collies go together.:)
See?
Our 63' Pontiac Catalina, but I drive a beat up 93' Mercedes. It's a bummer I'm too short to reach the pedals on the Catalina!
What about some 6" high disco shoes and a pillow?:)
Can't beat a '60's pontiac- here's my '64 Safari wagon.
Probably packed in cosmoline or something similar, it was used to waterproof rifles in WW2 for shipping. It looks like the bag is torn on the left rear fender. I wouldn't hold out much hope for the interior being salvageable. Probably no floors left either.
Too bad...

37 isn't feeling too bad to me right now, I have ALMOST as much energy as I used too, and I'm a hell of a lot smarter...
This is my pic, I've been putting it in the other forums, might as well duplicate it here.

It's hard to beat an early 60's Pontiac, best looks, best ride- My dad had a '65 when we were growing up, good times.
Now I just need a '65 2+2 to go along with the wagon. The '64 is slowly coming together, I'm doing the mechanicals before the cosmetics...

This is me last weekend with my '64 Bonneville wagon- I'm not a shorts and flip-flops kind of guy, even in 90 degree heat...

subbreed of the "gearhead" known as the "airhead"
My grandfather was infantry and told a similar story about basic. This was mid to late '44 and they recieved a trainload of guys who had been transferred from AAF to infantry. If I remember right this particular group had already been through some primary flight training to boot.

I should have posted you this link before- didn't think about it- most everything you need to know about original crush caps:

Also one of the best A-2 sites on the web.

The hat is a standard USN visor cap- petty officer, with no scrambled eggs on the brim. They pop up on e-bay all the time but look for the vintage ones, as with everything else, the older versions are better.

It looks from the pics that both hats have the same stain on top behind the eagle- if so I'd say it's the same hat. If you take the stiffening ring out of the crown it will flop a bit.
Does it fit?

I'm a complete gearhead, I've owned over 30 cars in my lifetime- and I've always wanted a Sonnett 2-
This page has most of my current vehicles, though the M715 is gone now.

E-bay seller k-9$, a surplus guy in Chicago has a decent looking repop on e-bay for $85. At least it looks like it's made out of wool gaberdine.
I don't know if you guys have been to the ACME Depot, but there's the best page on authentic USAAF crush caps...
Hey Technonut
I was the other bidder on that crusher- if it doesn't fit or you don't like it when it arrives let me know, I'll buy it from you or we can work out some sort of trade. I kind of collect that stuff....

WAY too many hats for my own good.:)
I should clarify what I was trying to say there- over priced NEW in the cockpit catalog compared to the jackets available from the other repro makers. For what I paid for it on e-bay it's an awsome deal.
You do have to be careful though. I bought another Avirex A-2 that I thought was the...
Cockpit used to be Avirex back in the day- it's an OK lower end repro, but overpriced. Check out the Vintage Leather Jacket board

For more than you ever want to know about A-2's, G-1's, B-3's, L2-A's, etc...
You can find those Avirex and Cockpit...
This is what a U.S. Wings Indy looks like after a few months. I've washed it, dried it, stretched it, applied alcohol, scalloped the pockets, moved the side strap up a couple inches (more like the original and suits my torso) and generally worn it as much as possible. The shoulders are a better...
This is the XL goat Indy- just arrived last night, as you can tell from the bags under my eyes...
First impressions were not positive, the goat is stiff as cardboard and made me look like I had shoulderpads. I decided to not mess around and threw the whole thing into the wash, then dried it on...
