For the most part, I agree. Though I can appreciate things I would not desire for myself. The exceptions, though, are the homburg (have 2) and one day a top hat, I think.
I have a black Lagomarsino that I love. It has an unusual finish and is very classy. I actually got it in Philly, at South Street Hats. But, as that may not be an option...

I don't know if it's the exact same...
Great crease. I like the ribbon color, too, even if only vaguely accurate. This is an example of why I want Whiskey next. And fairly close to what I will be asking for. :eusa_clap
Dan is right, I think. But I also believe that, as the hat interest spreds and the membership here grows, the composition of the pool from which we all draw expands and changes. We members take so much away from our interactions with each other, and so as new people with new ideas enter in, we...
You may want to consider PMing the hatters that frequent this site. They may offer ribbon replacement.
Another option, if Worth & Worth does not have a ribbon you like, is to ask them if you can provide it yourself, and if so how much they need to work with (probably a little over a yard)...
I wouldn't worry about ordering overseas. I mean, if shipping costs are your concern, the US vendors charge more for the hat due to taxes and all, thus the cost even out. Sometimes, if the timing is right, the currency conversion works out better to buy from Down Under. [huh]
If you have a fairly thin or long face, I know the taller british style will work. I have a friend who owns one that looks great on him.
If you can find a local uniform store, preferable one that sells postal uniforms, you might get lucky and find a pith to try on. I don't recommend buying...
Hard to say, really. There are many factors in how a hat looks - the wearer's face shape, shoulders, hair, height, the color of the hat. The list goes on. I think Depp just likes his hats big. Probably because he has so much hair.
I would advise that you send Art photos of yourself and...
That is Art Fawcett, the guy I mentioned. I have SEVEN of his hats, and he he is an excellent hatter.
The first hat will take a little longer and cost a little more because he sends you a device that will get the shape and size of your head.
I agree. Identifying the exact hat probably won't help, and his hat is likely a 2 1/2 inch brim. For a wider brim, there's the Campdraft, but I'm not sure if it's as wide as you want. If you are willing to spend in the $300 U.S. range, I recommend getting a custom from Art Fawcett (Vintage...
I just got myself the "Joe Fedora", which might be perfect for you. It's that poly-whatevermajigger straw that won't be damaged by water. It also has a chin strap that can be clipped up and out of the way if you don't want to use it. Finally, it can handle light rolling, if you need to tuck...
In your hat search, use the term "gaucho hat." The gaucho is a wide brimmed hat with a low, flat crown. It may yield some favorable results. I've seen a few Tombstone hats around, for sure.
They might have a Milano tag or logo inside. I've never seen inside, either. But they are marketed as DP's. A shame, really. I think it would sell better if they didn't do that.
I have a brand new, un-used bag from US Wings (see last bag on this page); http://www.uswings.com/bags.asp
It is the Khaki version. Nice, strong bag, with a strap that can be adjusted long enough to sling across the chest. I like the bag, but I had a specific job intended for it, and it did...
Adventurebilts are not licensed, but they have the right to use the name in selling the reproductions. They also made the actual hats for Indy 4.
I don't recall the actual maker of the beaver licensed hat, but I think they are selling under the Dorfman Pacific label. U.S. Wings carries it...
