I hope this listing isn't too far outside the scope of the Lounge. If it is, mods feel free to delete with my apologies.
I bought a kilt. Yep. Lightweight, not that heavy wool stuff, for use at summer Ren Faires. However, I have never had the chance to wear it. Since buying it, I have...
With the good there comes the bad, and I'm currently enjoying/enduring both. Recent life changes have finally gotten me to loose weight (25+ pounds so far). Good for my health. The down side is, I have really cool clothes that aren't going to fit anymore. Some can be altered without much ado...
OK, the time is here. I've been very happy with the handful of hatters I've dealt with in the past, but a chance to support a new craftsman in this field... and a local... at the ground floor. I couldn't resist. So, despite the worried look on my face, I am quite content.
And more...
The 257 (and some of the others) appear to be renamed versions of stuff Miller used to carry. If so, I used to own the 257. Not too bad, but I wouldn't wear it in the rain. Looks sharp!
And if you're used to vintage, you'll feel like your wearing a child's toy. The felt it very stiff, thick, and not really good for alteration. I have seen the results of attempted reblocks of this hat. Never liked any of them.
Frankly, you'd be better off hunting down a current stetson with...
Going back to your first post, Arne... I have dealt with Quality Hats before, and everything went well. That is a Stetson Nostalgia (their last). If I needed another gray hat I would have grabbed it long ago. Most of what they sell are Stetsons.
I'm afraid I don't know (or recall) much about this box. It is far from perfect, but it's sturdy and the "damage" is all cosmetic, not structural. Inside is excellent. Leather strap is still soft with plenty of life left. Great for a fedora with a 2 1/2 inch brim, maybe a smidge more...
I got this hat in Philadelphia a few year ago. It's a great hat, but like many, I am making hard choices to get some spending cash.
The vitals
"Spuce" model by Selentino, manufactured within the last 5 years. Goes well dressy, casual, and anywhere in between.
Size: Well, it's labeled 7...
I don't have any felts that look quite like that, but I have had new hats change texture a bit on me after a few months. I usually notice it on lids I buy near the end of winter. I don't see them much (if at all) during the summer, and come fall the difference jumps out at me. Sort of like...
I've dealt with them many times. The first time I got my cap very quickly, but hardly anyone seemed to know them outside of their show circuit. Their wait times are longer now, and I never get a cap in under a month. Perhaps they feel you lack patience by comparison to other customers? I...
This concern kept me away from toppers for a long time, especially since I wanted a taller, victorian style. If you have a chance to get to a good renaissance faire before the season is over (and you like that kind of thing), you might find a wool felt one you could try on. Steampunk clothing...
Bob and Jed, I was thinking along the same lines as 1961MJS. I won't presume to speak in his stead, but I can clarify why I would agree.
I have dealt with, by my reckoning, the best and most customer-satisfaction-oriented hatters out there (including yourself), but I've had my share of...
