My black Strat has been a very nice hat. I have worn it quite a bit but only once in a light rain and did not have any problems with taper or the dye bleeding. Mine came from DelMonico and was part one of the first order.
Dale, great find and in a large size too! Looks like a Stratoliner but doesn't have the markings on the sweatband. I wonder if it could have been refurbished years ago by Stetson and the sweatband replaced? I have a hat that was refurbished by Stetson and it has the same manilla colored size...
I haven't been to this thread in awhile. Great looking shirts everybody!
Mike, you've come up with some real beauties recently!
Dale, the Elvis shirt is great!
For all you Elvis fans, here is a great YouTube video of Elvis. It is not from Hawaii but it is one my favorite videos of him...
Here is a Stetson Amon Carter "Shady Oak". Stetson made the Shady Oak for Mr. Carter before he started having them made by Peters Brothers. I bid on it but not enough. I hope a Lounger got it. Very cool hat with the box too...
I just looked at that Action Comic auction. I don't follow comic book auctions and only looked because you mentioned it. That is amazing. I can't imagine paying that kind of money for a comic book.
Very nice Michael! I don't think I have seen a vintage Resistol 10X Beaver before. I would guess late 50's maybe early 60's for the date of manufacture. The liner looks 50's but the sweat looks newer to me. Great hat!
Alex, the first one I had was on the top of my bald head. The doctor wanted to biopsy it first and then have me come back if it was cancer. It was so small to begin with I told the doctor to just go ahead and remove whatever it is now. I think I cost the doctor a second visit but I couldn't see...
I have tried calling them before on another hat and they are not very helpful. I don't think the new Resistol company has any of this old information or at least they are not willing to research it.
You really don't need to glue or stitch a liner in place. If the liner is the correct size the sweatband will hold it in place. Makes it easier to remove it if you want to during the warmer months. I do that with several of my hats.
