Welcome Hat_question. Very neat hat. Looks like it is in great shape. It is hard for me to tell for sure from the angle of the pictures but the brim appears to be a Homburg brim. The crease is not a traditional Homburg crease but that doesn't mean it isn't a Homburg.
If you decide to sell or...
Cool hat John. Here is a thread with more info on the No Name Hat Company. There is also info on the Vanity model.

Alan, beautiful hat. What is the purpose of the second row of stitching below the overwelt? In the pictures it looks like the stitching does not go through the bottom of the brim. Is that what is holding the overwelt down?
PS: Oops, after posting this I ran into the other thread where you were...
Atticus, great hat. I think you're right about the age. Looks like 70's to me too. What is stamped on the front of the sweatband?
I can see where a man in a hat like that would get a lot of respect around a courthouse. I was wearing a suit and my Resistol San Antonio at the courthouse here...
Resistol TXDPS Hat
Here are a couple of pictures of one of my Texas Department of Public Safety hats. These hats are issued to the Texas Highway Patrol and the Texas Rangers. This one is a size 7 1/4 and now resides with a friend. I have another one in a size 7 1/2. I believe these were made in...
Very nice, fedoracentric. Looks like it has never been worn.
Great looking Waco, Atticus. You wear it well.
I have a Texas Dept. of Public Safety hat but it has a wider brim (3.5") than your Texas Dept. of Corrections hat. Mine is a fairly new production hat. Any idea when yours was made...
DTQ, that hat looks great! That is exactly what I was trying to describe in my earlier post.
PS: It is not really a "rolled" brim. You have just snapped or steamed the front brim down. A rolled brim usually implies a pencil roll on the edge of the brim...at least it does to me.
Here is one of...
After looking closer at the pictures of the hat that sold at auction for $28,734.00 I think it is probably a Resistol and not a Stetson. The sweatband and the crease look more like a Resistol than a Stetson to me.

I don't think Truman was as committed to any one brand of hat like LBJ and his Resistols. Here are two Stetsons though that were made for him.
This one sold in an auction for $28,734.00 in December 2013!

Based on the sweatband picture it looks like one of the original Federations. I think they used a different block on those than the newest version but I'm not sure about that.
Also from the picture it looks like it has been stretched quite a bit. Wetting the entire hat and stretching it can...
Ds5160, some types of creases lower the crown more than others. I try not to have the crown touch the top of my head but I like to wear my hats lower on my head and can't avoid it with some hats. If your hat has a teardrop crease you probably can raise the crown up a little by steaming it and...
Charlie, your Milan looks great! I get a ton of compliments on mine every time I wear it. I'm getting tired of taking it off so my friends can look at it :)
Most of my Stetson Open Roads have a Cattleman's crease and I like to wear them with the front brim turned down. I get a lot of compliments on my hats but I do live in a part of the country where the Cattleman's crease is the norm. One thing I find interesting is that I have friends who don't...
I believe that hat is older than the Silver Stetson Award. 41 years from 2006 puts it around 1965. That hat is probably from the late 50's or maybe early 60's. I guess they could have given out an older hat though. I also think they probably would have given out a felt Stetson but that is purely...
Thanks Michael. I like these old western Stetsons with string bands. The string on that one looks a little stained though. I have a bunch of horsehair bands I've collected over the years and am always looking for something to put them on.
