I'd recommend Sunbody Hats. I like to buy the fine grade Guatemalan straw in open crown. Very easy to shape. Just dunk them in cold water, shape them the way you want and wear it until it dries and the fit will be perfect. Buy one size larger than you normally buy because they will shrink after... -
Thoughts on females wearing fedoras
I think a woman wearing a nice fedora or western hat looks fantastic. However, I don't think anybody, male or female, looks good in those cheap, cloth, short brimmed hats. -

Jiffy Hat Steamer
+1 on this model. Make sure you only use distilled water or you will end up having to clean the mineral deposits out of it. That is not an easy task. I found that out the hard way :( -

Leather sweat band care?
I use Pecard's Antique Leather Dressing. I not only put it on vintage hats but also new hats when I first get them. It makes the sweatbands softer and conform to my long oval head easier. You can find it on the internet by doing a Google search. -
