In pictures: the Aero 50s halfbelt (take 3)

Thanks for the reassuring words, fellas. Blethook, yes, I did swap the back for a one-piece because Will told me that would minimise the nipped-in, waisted look. Jan, no, the trousers are actually Muji. Their clothing is often not so well cut but they sometimes seem to get trousers right, as...

In pictures: the Aero 50s halfbelt (take 3)

Loungers, here are some pictures of my latest Aero in its latest iteration. It ended up being a rather drawn-out story, this jacket. I think I have had four versions of it. I ordered a cordovan hb some time ago, kept it for about a year, and then decided it was too short and too waisted. So I...

Survey: Your Favorite A-2 Jacket (Original or Repro, Expensive or Cheap as Hell!)

Doesn't buying the leather 'aged' detract from the whole point of a leather jacket, which is that it ages as you do? The interesting reversal is that the jacket improves in appearance while we, after a time, don't. Sir J

You think olive drab b10 knits with oil pull, Jan? Sir J

Survey: Your Favorite A-2 Jacket (Original or Repro, Expensive or Cheap as Hell!)

Olli, I too have an oilpull sample and I agree it looks beautiful, but I'd also love to see the cafe racer. The knit colour on your A2 is dark brown, no? I can't decide whether the rust is too flashy but i want something distinct from my other brown Aero jackets. Would welcome Loungers' thoughts...

Survey: Your Favorite A-2 Jacket (Original or Repro, Expensive or Cheap as Hell!)

Some great jackets. Personally I only like A2s if they have a snug fit, like Ollie's. In fact, his jacket has almost inspired me to get to get an Aero A2 of my own -- I've had my eye on that 38 contract for a while. If only I could be assured of a fit as good as his! Another issue is the knit...

Eastman "Pearl Harbor", this time worn. Tree, lawn and everything else...

Thanks for those details, Jan. I tried to PM you re the maker of my last jacket but apparently your inbox is full. My first attraction to the A2 was to the rust knits, actually, which I thought looked pretty funky - and, crucially, really different from my other jackets. But now I'm not sure...

Wow, it's a nice one, and a great fit. What's the back length on that baby, Jan? And I thought you weren't too keen on A2s. Sir J

Thoughts on my Aero Stockman order? (And please post pics of your longer Aeros)

Thanks, Philalethes. I asked Aero about thicker alpaca but Amanda replied with the double layer option, instead. Hm, yes, thought about the arms but not sure if that wouldn't be too hot for the British climate, where I'd be wearing it most of the time. Sir J

Thoughts on my Aero Stockman order? (And please post pics of your longer Aeros)

Nice idea, Jan - I was going to PM you for your thoughts. Who would you suggest to make the jacket? Do you think such a request bothers Aero? And I really wish I did have a cat (I want a Tonkinese) but I go away too often. Sir J

Thoughts on my Aero Stockman order? (And please post pics of your longer Aeros)

Loungers, Would love your thoughts on my prospective Stockman order. I want a warm, trim-fitting winter jacket (so am ordering now). I am 183cm/84 kilos. - Black size 38 Stockman in FQHH - One inch extra on the sleeves - Green OD stitching [I think this is what will give the jacket its...

Nice looking jacket, Jan. Still thinking of a trim-fitting A2 myself. Looking forward to full review/more pics. Sir J

    Aero's detachable mouton collar

There are two buttons on the back of the collar, to which the mouton collar attachs, slipping over the first collar like a pillow sleeve. It's OK but not as good an attachment as if the collar is sewn on. Sir J

A question for those who have parted ways with their Aero's

OldCrow, if you want to trade in your jacket Aero will give you about half the price off whatever new jacket you order. Or you could try to sell it here. Yes, I agree, sizing is the biggest problem with Aero (and probably any other jacket-maker you buy from sight-unseen). My latest halfbelt I...

Pictures of, or thoughts on, the Aero Teamster?

Belthook, I'm interested (because of possible mods to the Teamster): what would the yoke do? Diameter of buttons is 25mm.
