I prefer fluff movies to movies like Casablanca so that is definitely not why I disliked it.
I just can't get into 40s and 50s musicals. They don't speak to me and grab me the way 30s musicals do.
I haven't watched PAGE MISS GLORY in years, but I might pull it out sometime this week. It's a cute movie. I love Frank McHugh. I always tell my husband that he resembles him....
I love all those Warner's guys -- Ned Sparks, Frank, Hugh Herbert, Guy Kibbee, and especially Allen Jenkins...
I began scanning some of my Photoplay magazines over the weekend. Figured I share some of them here ;) This is the October 1935 issue. Enjoy!
After not using my scanner for almost 6 months, I forgot how to use it for a minute! Don't worry -- the rest aren't this blurry!
It (1927)
Just Imagine (1930)
42nd Street (1932)
Gold Diggers Of 1933 (1933)
Footlight Parade (1933)
Wonder Bar (1934)
Happiness Ahead (1934)
These movies really put a smile on my face and give me that warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
Yup, Something Weird on On Demand.
My husband are huge fans of Something Weird Video and we've built up a rather large collection of DVDs. I love exploitation movies from the 30s-60s. Something Weird is great. I'd also recommend the "Weird Vegas" channel because they show modern burlesque...
I never liked toys much. Didn't watch cartoons. Rarely "played" outside....
...but give me my parents' records, their huge 1970s record player and matching huge earphones, and an empty basement and I was in heaven.
I liked MTV, too. Total anti-social MTV couch potato!!
Oh yea...
I'm also lost when it comes to all of this modern cell phone related stuff!
I had this conversation at work not too long ago:
CoWorker: "Have you seen a Blackberry laying around anywhere?"
Me: *confused* "No I haven't..." *even more confused* "Do you mean an actual fruit?"...
I don't have an iPod and have no desire for one.
My husband has an xbox 360, but I don't play it. I still prefer my Sega Genesis (it still works perfectly!) We both have cell phones - I only use mine for emergencies. I never got a DVD player until the end of 2003.
I haven't...
Today April 16 in the Philly region -- a few inches of SNOW, whipping winds that are making the tree outside lean into our window, and FLOODING!!
My husband and I called off work.
WHAT???!!!!
I used to have a huge collection of film stills and PR portraits from the 20s and 30s. I still have a few that I particularly liked, but I was unemployed for a year (couldn't find ANYTHING!) and had to sell them on ebay. I regret every moment of it!
But on the plus, I got $464 off two Clara...
I've only met punk bands:
Mr T Experience (4 times)
Teen Idols
Pansy Division (2 times)
Legendary Shack Shakers
Tombstone Brawlers
Ruder Than You
And Sgt. Slaughter ;)
When I was a pre-teen and teen I was into punk and therefore had more of masculine look. For a while I even denied I was female and wanted very badly to be male!!
When I was about 18 I began to experiment with my hair and makeup, but it didn't last long. I hated it and had no time...
Not so much a comment, but today in Ick-Mart we had a mother and a daughter behind us in line who were OBVIOUSLY whispering and giggling about mine and my husband's appearances.
They then got out their cell phones and tried to slyly take photos of us. Since they were RIGHT BEHIND US in...
My husband is getting me these:

I still don't know whether I should get black or brown. Black goes with everything, but brown looks more 30s.
