Yes and no...
I have jackets with shoulder width ranging from 20.5 to 18.5". Perfect fit on my shoulders would be 19.5".
Within that range all jackets are comfortable, and yes the only real effect of shoulder variation is on sleeve length, IMO a jacket with 20" shoulders and 25" sleeves will fit...
My DD J-100 has that same hourglass shape as yours:
My Schott 602 is more of an A shape, which IMO looks a bit worst:
I think it depends on your shape really, if you are super V shape, don't expect an A shape coat to be a great fit.
If you are A shaped, then a super V shaped jacket is...
Can't wait to see that!
And +10000 too on Constantine, I have been exchanging emails with him for a possible new Vanson idea i have, the guy is great. Every time i have called and talked to him we ended up nerding about leather jackets (vanson related or not) for what seemed hours, he is always...
So you are comparing an actual cheap Chinese made lambskin mall jacket to a quality Steerhide Aero jacket and all your "researching/reading" led you to the conclusion that the mall jacket was of better quality than the Aero?
That is quite incredible. (And i say that as someone who doesn't even...
I don't think my black bootlegger was crazy, i like it more than my brown bootlegger...
IMO the half belt and cuffs make it more "aviator style" than "motorcycle style". It's also pretty boxy which isn't really a MC jacket thing.
That's a good looking jacket, definitely real...
You need to handle more real leather jackets and learn what leather is and what you should expect from it.
Here, i tried taking pictures to illustrate what i mean, but the difference isn't as obviously in pics as it is in real life.
Real brass on the left, crappy gold plating on the right:
The Vanson is 15 years old and all the pullers are still fake shiny, the DD was barely worn but all the...
I couldn't tell you, i have no experience with the Aero Hookless zipper.
I have read a million horror stories on it but have never owned one for any length of time.
My only Hookless experience is the Whizzer branded one on my LaBrea and it is great.
To me it's more a question of patina/looks...
I have to say i agree with you.
And like you i would love to know what kind of savings that represents for the maker over using solid brass, it does feel like a cheap cost cutting measure.
I have the same issue with the Vanson zippers, they call them brass, but only the teeth are brass, the...
Well let me tell you the Whizzer version used on Freewheeler jackets is 100% careless, to the point where in 2 years of using it i had never even realized it was a hookless design and needed extra care.
It works just like any other zipper but feels much sturdier.
There must be something wrong...
Quick google shows that you are indeed correct...
It's weird though, because i keep reading people complaining that Hookless zippers are crap, failing early, hard to zip up, need full attention, etc (at least the ones Aero uses)
I don't know if there is a difference between a Hookless branded...
"Have you got water in your basement" is the traditional way of making fun of people with short trousers/high cuffs in my part of the world...
I have to say i like the "Flood pants" / "Flood boy" variations! Thanks.
Whizzer, here is a full shot:
The female side also has a tab the goes all the way to the rivet and holds everything in place.
There is no way the tape could rip on either side...
John, sorry for the zipper porn derail, and great jacket by the way!
What is especially cool in the FW version is that the metal tab goes all the way to the rivet on the right side of it, i am pretty sure the rivet actually goes through the tab.
The male pin is completely solid and has no bend/wobble to it at all.
This is really a nice zipper too.
It doesn't have...
