Let's call it 6lb...
Honestly Horween CXL isn't that heavy or that hard to break in.
I own 3 CXL jackets and they sit somewhere in the middle of my collection as far as weight /thickness goes.
The fact that it is a waxy leather makes it feel more rigid and crunchy when it is new, but it also...
You should try moving somewhere else to take your pictures.
If the subject is dark (black leather jacket) and the background is bright (your white house) the sensor in the camera is really going to struggle finding a setting that can correctly expose both the subject and the background.

My only experience with Buffalo is a gig bag, it has great grain and looks good.
Thickness wise, it really depends what Schott specifies the thickness to be... All hides we talk about are much thicker straight from the animal and are split to desired thickness before use.
Schott isn't known for...
You can have patina on wooden furniture, on stone surfaces, on leather, patina isn't limited to metals...
I would say patina is dirt buildup/natural polishing/fading created from use.
Creases to me are part of the break in process, i agree though that they have nothing to do with patina.
It wasn't mine, i actually got to try Red Devil's jacket.
There is a huge difference between the 3.5oz and the 5oz moose.
The moose has a more interesting less uniform grain, i think i remember it as more matte, and mostly it has a really nice density/weight to it. It moves on you as if it was...
I tried that 5oz moosehide jacket and it is AMAZING.
It is the nicest feeling jacket you can imagine, it's like a big heavy wet blanket, it feels like a leather hug.
I was not a fan of the deer, it felt a bit thin and underwhelming to me, but that moose is magical.
Two different shades of green at the same time! What are you trying to do to me? My eyes!
But seriously though, that jacket looks much cooler worn than it does unworn.
I also really like the fact that the green stripes are stitched in tan thread but the rest of the jacket uses black thread...
Agreed on the patch pockets, they are only good to store flat things in, it feels like if you try to use them like real pockets they would just tear off.
Saying that it looks like these pockets have a real pocket bag rather than the usual A2 way of doing it , that should make them much more usable.
That second to last picture is interesting, it almost looks like the horizontal part of the pocket at the top was cut too wide on the right side and then stitched back.
I know, it feels a bit like going full circle.
LW was one of the first makers i really wanted to get into, but because of his weird website i avoided it for years.
The "no return on Long sizes" policy, the general prose and looks of the site and the fact that Stuart doesn't lke to give...
Why do we need pictures of yellow plastic jackets in threads about "leather creasing, fading, and character" and pictures of char siu pork in threads about face masks?
I'm all for a good thread derail once in a while but this is confusing...
