I can see why you're worried about being suspended.
Sit back and learn from the kid.
And sorry, no pictures, but I'm wearing a Hawaiian shirt
and Art Fawcett Spumoni today.
Metal watch band?
Why not go for one of those expandable metal watch bands?
I've had years of bad luck with unreliable leather bands...
Actually, I'm currently looking for a source for vintage metal
watch bands. Need one for my father's early 60s Omega
Seamaster. 18mm. Ideas or sources?
Wow HPG, you've got a very good idea of what hat
works for some guys. That hat is a very good look for Torpedo.
I wish I could do that for myself, let alone for others. That's
a talent.
Although, of course, the original Torpedo wore what appears to
have been 6" dimensional brim... ;)
Don't ever dry clean a hat ever. No matter what you hear about it.
There may have been a time when dry cleaners knew how to
clean and block hats or knew to send them to someone who did.
Now is not that time. Many dry cleaners will take your hat and
ruin it for you in the name of dry...
Leica Repair?
leicanthrope, Spim, and others, do you know of a reliable, trustworthy
place in Northern California where one can have a Leica repaired?
I have my father's old Leica (with Weston Master V and Gossen Pilot light
meters). I can't figure out a model name for this Leica. It has...
I've found everything Cooke does to be 60s style, and this is no
exception. That was the point of the New Frontier stuff. The stuff
you posted looks great, but it sure doesn't bring what is great about
Eisner's Spirit to mind. Actually, what it brings to mind is 60s great
Jim Steranko...
Now I will have to post some pictures... I have a
Cavanagh 55 cowboy hat with an edge that has been sharpened.
Takes a stiff edge, of course.
And Dinerman, the stitching is more like a Playboy's edge, if I recall
correctly (I don't have one). Edit: Don't recall if it was the same...
Never heard of it before. I was wondering because that 5X Clear Beaver
I have has an unusual edge- the edge is sewn and tied off.
Wondered if it was the same thing.
Yeah, yeah- I'll post pictures one of these days!
Now there is a clue. In German it would be "foto", would it not?
So I'd say it dates to at least post WWII, when the American
influence was stronger in West Germany.
Remember that the picture could have been slipped under
the sweatband any time in the history of the hat. So if you
date it to 1945, that doesn't mean the hat dates from that year.
What I find fascinating is that someone thought to put a
picture of working farmers in traditional work...
The photos on the German site above are, interestingly, of
a Hercules that has been worn some. It reminded me of the
pictures Graemsay posted when he sold his Hercules on Classifieds here:
http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=28881
My problem with both of these sets of photos...
Huh, I really don't understand how this works. I was going
to bid just now. I checked the rules:
"the end time will be posted based on Eastern Standard Time (-3 hours for Pacific Standard Time)"
The time is now: All times are GMT -8. The time now is 05:48 PM.
Closing time: END DATE...
I have a similar concern. I wonder if anyone has the Hercules?
I'm not thinking of buying an Aero jacket now, just some day, but
I wrote Amanda and she said that jacket would fit any body type.
I wonder how it looks on someone who is "not V shaped" and how
well the jacket keeps its shape...
I'm sorry, did I understand you correctly?
You MADE those cool, vintage-looking stems on those pipes?
Where did you get that acrylic? How did you form it?
Wow.
My questions were valid and fair to ask. You clearly thought
that thing I took to be a moth bite was something- you posted
two photographs of it. We discuss stains on felt all the time in
the Hat section. If I can't touch a hat, I ask a lot of questions.
This is whata knowledgeable...
