Cuban Cigar or London Tobacconist Recommendation?
I find myself in London over the holidays.
Can anyone recommend a tobacconist who could
be trusted to recommend a Cuban cigar worth purchasing?
Got a favorite cigar to recommend?
Keep in mind I'm a cheapskate when it comes to cigars...
I think you'll find that most custom hatters have at least
some vintage ribbon. Check out Art Fawcett's limited editions.
Odds are very good Mike gets his felt from the same supplier, too.
There is nothing in the materials to justify the price.
BTW, while it is true that Mike's store...
Bourbon Guy- Thanks so much for the references.
Leicanthrope- As soon as I get a few moments, I'll do more reading
on Rangefinderforum.
I see I have another project...
I have been enjoying Sazerac and Punt E Mes manhattans (with orange
bitters) for a while now. Thanks for the suggestion. An excellent
vermouth. Now I'm out of Sazerac, but happily have restocked
on Rittenhouse 100 (with a bit of Buffalo Trace bourbon bridging
the gap). Life is good...
Heh. Well it was my father's camera and did not
work most of his life. The actual problem is lost to
the mists of time. But it doesn't appear to cock and
snap a picture. Where the problem lays, no one knows.
It was a running family joke that some day the Leica would
work again...
Thanks! I'll check out the range finder forum.
If you can recommend someone reliable for this repair
I'd appreciate it. I take it the IIIf is worth repairing?
BTW, is it interesting enough to be worth posting a picture
or have you guys seen enough of these?
Apologies for the tangent, but I have never heard the phrase
"Coffee Bar Cowboy". I take it this is English slang for what we call
in the US a "biker" with all the rough connotations. But what is the
derivation of the term. Coffee bar?
To answer the question... unfortunately quality...
Which is good news for the gators I saw in the Louisiana swamps.
Those nutria move FAST... or else.
Not that the web site helps much, but as I recall, Optimo
offers some nutria blend felts. So someone still makes them.
Probably not of the same caliber, however.
And 7 1/4 is just too...
Another good reason to buy vintage. Would it bother you less
if the felt was made (and the animal killed) long before you were born?
It exists, and there's not much you or I can do about it.
If keeping those vintage hats in circulation prevents you or someone
else from buying a new fur...
I'd take a nutria, Nutria Quality, or Clear Nutria hat over just about
any beaver hat I've ever had. This is partly because they aren't
made anymore, partly because they are amazingly strong felt. Not
a dress hat, but a classy hat that will serve you for a very long time
in any...
Thanks for the explanations, boys. Knew I could
learn something here. I wasn't thinking this morning
or I wouldn't have opened the "nazi clothing" can of worms.
Hey, I have a Hugo Boss blazer...
I guess the Hartmann style is the vintage jacket you posted?
I like that old fashioned...
Nice jacket. But it doesn't seem much like the vintage jacket
you posted as a real luftwaffe jacket? Pockets are different,
no epaulettes, different color, snap vs. buckle at the bottom
of the zipper, etc. Did you post the Highwayman you had
customized? It would be very interesting to...
If your jacket size is much larger or smaller than a 44,
I suggest contacting Good Wear before deciding to wait.
It is not yet available in a range of sizes.
Can't believe I missed this thread till now. Trying to catch up...
First, SC, thanks so much for sharing your views.
I lived in Spain in 1980-1981. I met a great many people glad to
share their views and in many cases their experiences in the Spanish
Civil War, or as many call it, The...
