This jacket is quilted throughout and it doesn't look puffier than another:

It is pretty warm though, quilted arms definitely add a lot to overall warmth.
I mean just compare both versions of the jacket, it's pretty obvious that the one with a center seam has a curved back and the other one a flat back:
The backs are clearly different and fit differently.
No one is saying that a jacket without a center seam cannot fit briliantly either...
Seams add man hours, these jackets were designed at a time when materials where expensive and workers were cheap.
IMO the sunburst back is a cost cutting measure.
Pretty much...
Imagine you are joining two pieces of leather, you could have the joined edge perfectly straight, you could have a slight convex cut on the edges, or a slight concave cut on the edges:
The top example is literally just a visual design/cost saving thing, it won't add anything to...
You guys are ignoring the fact that a center seam can be there for pattern tailoring, not only as a visual cue/money saving measure...
On these car coats, you can see that the seam is used to increase the bell shape in the back.
On Aero's board racer it is there to add a curve to the back.
There...
I had Stu make a second mutton collar for a jacket, he insisted i send my original collar back to use as a guide to make the second one.
According to him each jacket/collar combo is unique, the snaps are not placed exactly in the same position on each jacket/collar.
For you, yes it will feel flimsy...
The jacket weighs 2.97kg (6.55lb), it is made from what i think is their regular X150 leather.
It's a great jacket, just not that heavy weight.
I have one of these LeftField CXL jackets, and the first thing i thgouth when i opened the box was "if aero uses 3.5oz, this is definitely 3oz".
The CXL batch used by Vanson on the commando is noticeably thinner than what Aero has used on all my jackets.
I was just using this as an example, if it is a problem i will delete the pic.
Edit: Actually, i deleted the pic, in retrospect i don't want this to be badly interpreted or the owner of the jacket to feel like i am dissing his jacket.
Samantha is a pattern maker at Aero, she was the one that did the mockup for my GF's Aero jacket, she was very nice to deal with...
Unfortunately my GF never wears that jacket, she finds it super uncomfortable and impossible to live in, she ends up only wearing her Lewis Leathers.
Those sleeves...
I think it's a combination of the two. In that it can be made worst by having too wide shoulders, but I have jackets with 21" shoulders that are definitely too wide for my natural shoulders but don't do that weird shelf/overhang, they just slope and follow the shoulder, meaning it's also a...
That really looks good, it's mad the difference a tiny bit less material makes.
How is the back? Does it still have the weird overhanging folded shoulders? Or did you manage to get rid of that too?
Has Gregg updated the shoulders/neckhole?
His jackets usually have Aero style neck creases and overhanging square shoulders that i am not a fan of, but this one falls really really nicely!
This is the first fit pic from Field Leathers that is making me want to take the plunge...
I have one of these, it was my first ever "leather jacket"...
They fit like most things Schott, short and wide for the size, don't expect a good fit if you are V shaped, if you are barrel shaped this is for you.
I bought mine in 2000 something and i ended up sizing up to a 48 instead of 42 to...
I would just get in touch with LL, they are very good at answering questions.
I bet it is chrome tanned and Corlection is talking nonsens... That blurb is too Engrish to be taken seriously.
