Gotcha...Lots of subject matter on stretching but when I have to go over a size increment, I'm sending to a hatter for reblocking. Stretching depends highly on the condition of the sweatband you are working with IMO. I say "train" it to a larger size because it is an ongoing process in my... -

Open Road questions ??
Almost forgot... as far as stretching goes, 7 3/8 to 7 5/8 is 2 sizes = 7 3/8, 7 1/2, 7 5/8. Not sure what 1/2 a size is... I have 3 7 1/2 Long Ovals that I have trained to be 7 5/8. I'd not attempt to do that with a 7 3/8. That would go off to a hatter to be torn down, reblocked & rebuilt. -

Looking for vintage in our hat size, 7 5/8, you can't be too color selective. There are some nice OR's out there but majority will be in Silverbelly. True, Resistol, Knox, etc. have a more silver/grey than Stetson's, which is more tan. If you ever get your hands on a nice vintage Silverbelly... -

Question About Re-Blocking A Hat
Re-blocking & sizing down are possible but the 2 areas of impact are the brim break & where the sweat is stitched in, which are usually the same place. That break & stitching makes for a weak area in the felt that can tear when getting worked over a block by a hatter. Sizing down means the break...
