What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Yeah, a friend of mine in Calgary has been complaining about the crap weather lately. By contrast, here in SoOnt we've had 28C+ lately. Impossible to wear jackets now, even a thin windcheater feels like a parka.

Vintage Excelled motorcycle jacket -- keep or return? (photo heavy)

Nice fitting jacket with some interesting details. I particularly like the almost-vertical pockets which give the jacket a 'vertical' appearance. I've never done this, but my instinct tells me to make sure the mix is mostly water...

    Bush Jackets

Safari jackets are odd things: some people like them and look good in them, others the complete opposite. Get an affordable one first, used of the bay or someplace, or one of those TAG ones, to see if you like it and look good in it. Then you can get a posh one. But to be honest, they're just...

Zipper repair of the thread behind the male insertion pin

I will refrain from making jokes about male insertion pins and will simply say that's an excellent drawing. I'm really impressed.

    The Adventurer's Gear Thread

I looked for a more relevant thread, but couldn't find one, so I'll post this pic here. Props to someone on AAAT who pulled the pic first.

    Bush Jackets

They haven't for a long time, which is a shame. I have one I picked up a few years ago (used), I've never worn it, but it's a solid thing that no doubt survive a trip to hell and back!

How to ID a Schott Perfecto?

Don't overthink the tag. It doesn't mean much since Schott has been using more or less the same brand-name tag for 20 or 30 years and all it takes is one seamstress on one shift to sew the tags on a bit differently and all of a sudden you've got a hundred jackets with tags that aren't exactly...

How to ID a Schott Perfecto?

See what Monitor posted above. Unless something is really old, like 50s or something, and/or in great condition, then it's not a big payoff. Start checking e-bay regularly, there's always a bunch of Schott jackets listed, and keep an eye on the older ones which have the same/similar details as...

How to ID a Schott Perfecto?

Your jacket has the non-tapered body and the rectangular rear panel with low-mounted belt. Which means it's older. How old? Well...

Vintage French leather double breasted jacket

Leather jackets virtually never seem to be made with raglan sleeves (although some French firefighter jackets were).

See this guide (click for large). I saw it on some website, can't remember the link. It might be helpful.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I just sold a light cotton jacket to someone on e-bay and got this response, which was nice: The jacket is purrrrfect, my boyfriend looks so cool. Thank you!

Is it possible to ID this motorcycle jacket?

I think the fit is great. It's what I would want: snug around the waist, roomy up top for movement. It's how motorcycle jackets in old photos from decades ago fitted. Pay no attention to the it should fit like a sausage crowd here, lol You're right about its status in American clothing culture...
