Anyone else follow this auction? If they had been any wider, I might have
done something rash...

"rare ENDICOTT JOHNSON 1910-1920's"
Anyone care to lift the pictures and post them for posterity?
They seemed happy to make it with any heel/sole I wanted.
I went with the standard heel and sole in the picture- seemed
right for me.
I really hope this boot is as nice as it looks.
I think if the buckle is missing and the seller didn't disclose this
shortcoming, you should return the coat!
And let me know when the seller puts it back on the market...
I think this might be closest:

I was thinking of John's Monarch civilian jacket, but it appears
he has decided not to offer that jacket in favor of this one.
Interesting. It was based on the jacket shown here...
Right. One.
Seriously, I was disappointed about a year back when I spent
a couple of weeks in London and didn't spot a single Aero jacket.
I did see a surprising number of Irvins and Irvin-like jackets.
Yeah, silly isn't it? What's the carbon offset on one of those jackets?
A tear rolls down my cheek when I read of such severe deprivation.
ONLY three Aeros? Why do you torture yourself so? ;)

Okay, I took the plunge. Ordered a pair of Viberg 55 Foreman 6" work boots,
plain toe, Vibram 700 Tygum soles. $274 plus shipping. Although my size is
listed as stock, it is not in stock and it'll be a couple of weeks or so before
I see them.
Their Stompers line is, in fact, made in...
Wow, I have a Hudson 3 bar red and black blanket on my bed.
What a feeling it would be to go from under the blanket to under
the blanket jacket. I'd probably fall asleep on the way to work.
Somewhere I read that the number of bars on the blanket indicated
its value in beaver pelts. But...
All right which of you lucky dogs got this beautiful
1950s Dobbs before I saw the auction?

No accounting for taste, Papa M. I am not a big suede shoe fan and I
am a big fan of Vibram soles. What I meant by the similarity is that it
appears the leather portions have the same cut. But yeah, the appearance
is different due to the different material.
Here is a bit more...
Presumably the "Bob Cat" in suede
http://www.superdenim.co.uk/prodpage.asp?productid=252
is the same model as the Bobcat on their site, with suede and
lighter sole?
http://www.workboot.com/work_boots/36_Bobcat
Makes it less appealing to me. I very much like the standard
Bobcat...
Recently I have come to appreciate the subtle pleasure of
leather shoes and boots. I have tried over the last couple of
years to find a temperature-cool boot. I tried "hybrid" boots like
the modern ones pictured in this thread (Bates Enforcers). Yes,
comfortable and great grip in the rain...
