    Black Sheep Hat Works

It's here! The inspiration for this hat was a good long search through many threads of the Fedora Lounge. The primary influence is Alan's wonderful Stetson Star from the Pre 1940's Stetson Dress hats thread. I asked Bob to also include his "Halo +1" edge treatment, for that special Black...

    Custom homburg

I do like the look of Drexlers....but my first answer is gonna be Bob at Black Sheep hatworks. IMHO, he has the best brim curls.

Ask a question, get an answer

The 'hunnerds run on the large side, so it's not unfeasible to rebuild it in your size. But, it will basically no longer have value as a vintage Stetson piece. It will be a very nice hat for you to wear, however.

    Black Sheep Hat Works

Thank you all for the kind words...of course it's Bob who deserves the credit, and tip of the hat to Alan for the inspiration. Can't wait to get my hands on this one!

To Feather or Not to Feather?

I took the feather that came on my Stetson Temple and put it on my Latte Milan weave. I wear that hat a lot.

Help with {date or identify} a hat please.....!

Sorry to say that a small size and short brim is not likely to fetch $100.

What hat are you waiting for today?

Bob at Black Sheep sent me some teaser shots of my hat. Now I'm really excited! It's going to be a heather charcoal grey felt, based on a pre war Stetson that belongs to Alan, here on the lounge.

Which looks better -- a Stetson Open Road or an Akubra Campdraft with a Cattlemen's Bash?

Well, I would take the Campdraft over a modern Stetson with a blocked in crease. But I would prefer a decent vintage Stetson to an Imperial grade Akubra.

    Indy's Hat

That's because the Fed IV was designed with an eye for the Crystal Skull hat.

    Indy's Hat

"The" hat was a Herbert Johnson "Poet" model, which was trimmed to order by a man named Richard Swales. The block in use now is very probably not the same as the original hat. Check out indygear.com for more than you ever thought you needed to know about the Indy hats.

    The hats of our fathers

Gotta love that duct tape sweat. The corrugation in front looks an awful lot like the kind Borsalino put in their hats. Not great pictures of mine:
