I wore the same Akubra Coober Pedy I've worn almost every day for the past several years. It's been all over the world with me and it looks like it got killed a few wars ago. These days I get the Jed Clampett hat comments. I disagree, Jed Clampett's hat had far more character.

Nevertheless I might get another hat and retire this one...

Purchased this Dynafelt last Friday and according to the shipping information it should arrive at my office on my birthday tomorrow. It looks like it's been stored poorly and the brim is messed up, but I hope it'll respond to an iron and steam to bring the felt back into shape.

Well, the hat arrived on Tuesday as the shipping information stated. That was the best news related to this particular hat. It was packed for shipping fairly well, but the pics didn't show that every cat for miles around had contributed to the accumulation of hair stuck to the felt. I couldn't even bring it in the house because of my wife's allergies. The "leather" sweat was, sadly, laminated paper and a disappointment to say the least. The felt is dense, but has been neglected long enough that it wants to retain the wonky bash currently in the crown.

The hat's been re-boxed and is now on its way to Bond for cleaning and a new sweat. The hat isn't really special, but I'm hoping to make something a bit nicer out of it than what the image currently shows. No, Joao, not planning to rim the brim and make a fedora out of it, but hoping for a nicer outdoors hat than the Stratton that I currently use. Starting with a clean hat and a fresh sweat will help.

Sorry to hear this, but sadly, that is the downside to collecting vintage hats. I fear that it is just part of the deal but I have purchased many more treasures than duds through the years. I'm sure Scott will make it look terrific!
