Thanks, my friend....does it look like maybe it has excessive taper.....?
I was thinking of sending it to Black Sheep Hat Works for reblocking, but some have told me I should wait....

it looks to have the amount of taper that it was intended to have ... which is very common of the hats of this era

if you want something with less taper you would be better off getting a hat that was blocked with less taper than reblocking one that was intended to look this way

if you are buying hats from the 60s and 70s 9 times out of 10 you are going to get a lower tapered crown and a short brim

best to not try to make a zebra a horse if you dig what I'm saying ... just go get a horse

Bird, Bob at BSHW can work magic with a hat. I have several hats he's rescued for me ranging from resizing/reblocking to total conversions. If your not happy with the hat as is to the point you won't wear it, by all means send it off to Bob, at least he can turn it into something you'll be happy to wear, probably for less than the cost of another hat.

Echter Borsalino from the Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Bad Homburg, Germany hat collection, probably late 1920s early 1930s. It's a Point 5 1/2 size (58 cm, US Size 7 1/4). This hat was made for the German market and is in very good condition.

Charlie, Thanks! I have a many photos to post from my trip so it's going take a while. I would like to thank the curators at the Gotischen Haus Hat Museum, Bad Homburg, Germany for allowing me access to their amazing collection. I would highly recommend paying the museum a visit if your are visiting Germany (Bad Homburg is just north of Frankurt am Main). I will make a post on their hat exhibit in the German - Austrian thread.

This is another Borsalino gem!
Along with the Cervo and others Borsalinos from the Museum of Bad Homburg are the best example of the Italian hatters of those years
Thanks Steve!
