We know that's not true, since for a while there someone
listed on eBay a Stetson (licensed) soft felt fedora made in
Japan for Mitsukoshi.

As for modern bowlers, you just can't make them with crap wool felt
and poorly sewn brim...
I would trade almost anything I have for a hat like Bohr's.
The one Oppenheimer appears to wear in some of the pictures
is similar in some ways to the one Frank Lloyd Wright wore, but
shaped by the wearer differently. Very thin felt for a dress hat,
nothing like a Western felt. I'd suggest...
Congratulations
Looks great to me.
Maybe you're worried it looks baggy in the back
and around the sides and the arms seem a bit long?
I don't think so (though it's up to you). I think you'll
find that the leather in the torso will relax and drape evenly and
nicely and the sleeves will...
I can't keep up with those guys. rlk has months in which he buys as
many hats as I own!
I will have a look at what I have around. For the moment I
will remind everyone of one of my strangest (and as yet not
worn in public) hats:

You have TWO VS hats now?
I suspect that we cannot fully appreciate the color from
photos. Hope to see it in person some day.
I wonder if you could compare the process and result of forming the
crown of a new VS hat and forming the crown of a good vintage hat?
Sure looks like it to me. Superb Milan hat.
Really made in Italy, too, I bet. And what a pugaree.
I've never held one of those modern Optimo "milans"
(with Chinese bodies), but I can't imagine you get as
nice a hat for your $500.
Do post pix when it arrives.
Well enjoy it for now, Mark. Good of you.
I was about to take comparison snaps of the
button holes on my GW A-1... but I took a close
look and I'll do John a favor and NOT post them.
They work. We'll leave the close-up for the beaut
pictured above.
Wow, for the price of one The Few A-2, you can buy two
Good Wear jackets and still have enough money left over
to pick up a custom fedora from Art Fawcett.
And of course you can forget it if you're bigger than a
(Japanese) 46.
I note that there is once again a sale at Wesco.
This time it's 10% off. Boy am I miffed since I just
bought a pair of factory seconds.
Actually, I'm still thrilled with what I got for what I paid.
Two tone Redwood and black 8" waffle stompers. Great
looking, great fit. Appear to be true...
