Windward jackets by Montgomery Ward (and copies)

Windward- how does the rayon lining compare to cotton drill for insulation? Thanks.

    The Cavanagh Club

Interesting. Compare to this luxurious Western Cavanagh with no price/quality rating: Found in: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showpost.php?p=39603&postcount=1 Original sweatband was wonderfully tooled. And my Cavanagh 55: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showpost.php?p=783991&postcount=346

    Rotten Pre-Teens Stole my Hat!!!

If more had parole officers than not, apparently someone was able to do something... I'd caution against starting a kid on the wrong side of the law. They don't need to develop that self image or get a reputation with the local cops when they are still young enough to learn better. If you...

Windward jackets by Montgomery Ward (and copies)

Very nice jacket. Surely the rayon is hotter than cotton drill?

PM me with the auction number if this one is for sale? I'd say wear it with a black suit. Edit: or charcoal gray, of course!

    Penman Hats

Catching up on this interesting thread. Some nice hats here. Not unless he also wore a white collar... Garrett, I trust you have a new job and can afford to post those pictures where we can see them again.

Escape from NY HH 30's Motorcyle Jacket

That Japanese vintage scene is out of control. I'd better buy a lottery ticket. http://www.anoutcommunemeta.com/phigvel170.html

    Tom Wolfe's Lamps

I've been thinking about doing that for a while. Hadn't considered cutting out the top to vent the heat. I thought I might just use compact florescent. Interesting.

    Hat Store Displays- Vintage

The stuff of dreams... Two interesting things, to me: - on "page 46" the bottom window and the third page reproduced here show posters of a size and style similar to my Stratoliner poster (pictured elsewhere on this site). So that might be how it was originally used- in a window. I wonder if...

Escape from NY HH 30's Motorcyle Jacket

Ah, I see: http://www.macleod.jp/snekevillain2.htm Not sure I understand the Snake Plissken connection, but it's a very nice vintage-style jacket.

Crofut & Knapp, too: http://cgi.ebay.com/VTG-Mens-Hat-Crofut-Knapp-7-1-8-Never-Worn-/270597451571 That hat just makes me think... "It's a double-knit world, baby/and your heart is my goal/I'll pick the lock with my pet rock/to get to your bell-bottom soul." It was a bad time for...

Escape from NY HH 30's Motorcyle Jacket

I don't quite understand. Is that supposed to be a vintage 1930s jacket or a modern repro? If it's a repro, who makes it? Tried searching. Thanks.

Give me tips on nice leather shoes for the summer

Some of the (temperature) coolest shoes for summer are leather weave shoes, either huarache style or more formal/traditional (these are A-E and Florsheim): Another very comfortable option for summer is a thin leather cowboy boot, such as ostrich leather.

FS: Silk Top Hat 58 Long Oval

Size 58 is a USA size 7 1/4. Are you sure that's what you meant? I take it this is the size with no leather sweatband. If it had a sweatband I suppose it would be closer to a size 7 USA? Or do I misunderstand?
