Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Just a clarification: you don't really mean to say that Lee made the Stratoliner for Stetson, right?

Nutria felt in the modern day

That was you, huh? I meant to bid almost twice that, but forgot... Yeah, I think it would be sad to change that hat. But it's your hat.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

You're just sore 'cause you were hoping to get a good price on those babies and now we're all going to bid on them. Hey, I'm just providing a public service. And I'd be glad to go back to no posting of live auctions... Or live auction posts should use the <blink> tag and be in pink only.

It's chipped to the point of missing a fair amount of the right top edge (totally unusable) and all scratched up. Someone knows it's packed with cocaine, I guess.

Dating Vintage Stetsons by Liner: A Field Guide

Seems like a good guess to me, off the top of my head. What I want to know more about is this "Crafted Edge". Can you post close ups in some appropriate thread? I can't find much info on this using our terrible search mechanism or Google. Is that the Cavanagh Edge look-alike that was...

    Homburg Nation

It's both- center dent with pinch front. I love that it is labeled "Homburg" on the sweatband. That'll keep 'em from converting it to a fedora... Very nice hat and looks great on you.

    Fedoras in the 19th Century.

Anyone who has ever been misquoted by a journalist or had their position entirely misrepresented by a journalist who didn't take the time to understand the issues or for that matter anyone who reads articles about hats in today's newspapers will not be surprised by confused, contradictory...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

What an extraordinary hat. Who knew a few mm of binding could make such a difference? I see you're a regular on this thread now JtL. And to think I knew you back when you were humble. ;) Not that your collection of hats is anything to be humble about.

Question on Panama hat sizing, (Brent Black?)

I don't have a BB Panama. But there's nothing inherent in the panama material that shrinks leather sweatbands more than felt. I sure haven't noticed anything like that in my panamas. I personally like a snug fit with my panamas. This is because they can be blown off your head more...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I am so jealous of the hats you guys with small heads can buy. ;) I was about to guess 70s. No chance that paper tag inside would be seen on a hat before the 60s. And that sweat looks like it's seen a fair amount of use. That said, it's a nice hat with an outstanding pugaree, at a...

    Stetson New York

Very nice. Gotta love those 3X Mode Edge Stetsons. What does the Stetson logo look like? Does it say 3X below the medallion or something else?

Windward jackets by Montgomery Ward (and copies)

Thanks. I like a satin lining, but it can be hot. I guess Aero doesn't do satin for heavy FQHH, but this could be an alternative. Great jacket, BTW. There may be a Windward in my future... For now I just hope to complete my transaction for the Hercules I ordered at the beginning of...

These are amazing. Thanks for bringing this to us. For what do you use your bag? For what are they used traditionally? How do you carry it? More pictures, please!
