 I didn't know that! Explains a lot.
BTW, the folks at the Classic Rotary Phones forum are
recommending the AE 50. Certainly an attractive wall phone
and it turns out to have good sound. My personal preference
is for an earlier look than that- fewer angles, more fluid curves.
But it's...
Thanks.
I've always found the 354 a bit dull, aesthetically.
Having looked around a bit, I am finding LizzieMaine's
price estimates to be more realistic. Glad to see my
pursuit will not be too expensive.
Thanks also AET for suggesting the Classic Rotary Phones forum.
I'm posting...
Don't forget that eBay owns a chunk of Craigslist.
I was hoping, "Parcourir l'Aide" meant they'd come out
and help me get through one of those Perrier Parcourses.
Thanks, that could work. Ideally I'd like a wall-mount phone.
Any other suggestions?
BTW, it sure looks like online and local prices are going to be
higher than $100. I suspect things cost a bit more in California
than they do in Maine. Also I'd pay more for unusual styling.
Okay, let me make a minor clarification here- I want that Golden Era
look. So I am thinking phones from the 30s and 40s.
I agree with AtomicEraTom that those 500s were great phones.
But I want something with more of a deco or earlier look to it.
I like the look of redbars and 202s and...
Best vintage sound?
This weekend I visited a local flea market where a guy sells vintage phones
he refurbishes. The phone in my home office has finally pooped out
(and it is not worth fixing). What I'd like to get is a vintage phone
with sound good enough to be useful in a modern...
At least they're not vague about it...
Interesting. Everyone see the Links page, with links to VLJ forum and
The Fedora Lounge? Wonder who he posts as here?
Sure would be interested in seeing pictures of people wearing
their jackets. That's where a really good jacket comes to life.
Le Samouraï,
If you want to defend Baron's, you might post pictures, including
close-ups, refuting the claims made against Baron's. That way we
can judge for ourselves.
BTW, WRT George Lopez- a lot of companies, particularly in the LA
area, will do better work for high rolling...
westinghouse, who did you bribe?
Ordered beginning of January. Still no word.
No response on my last query to Aero USA over a week ago.
At this point, with the warm weather here, I'm most concerned
that I know in advance when it is coming, so it doesn't get stolen
off my front porch.
I am offended by all the great size 7 1/2 hats you find.
Please stop. And let me know where I might find them.
I promise not to wear them at the table.
Wow, compared to this, wearing one's hat at the table is pretty tame.
Let's not slam any group of people here.
I try to keep a handkerchief or equivalent to cover the floor beneath
my seat. I have been known to request an additional cloth napkin for
the purpose. Never could figure out how...
You can post photos right away, AFAIK.
Just use the little icons above where you enter text.
It's the Private Messaging system that requires a certain number of posts.
Dang. Glow in the dark, too. Seriously, put a geiger counter
on those puppies before too long so you know what you're dealing with.
Probably safe enough, but don't polish them in your lap...
That was my experience as well, Mike K.
I ordered one last year and it arrived with a broken zipper.
Sent it back for a refund. Then I picked up a used one here
that was a year older and I like it very much. My family and
friends think it's silly, but I wear it when it's cold enough...
