Very nice looking jacket! Congratulations.
Question: that HH looks smoother and less grainy then some of the other hides I've seen on JC's site. Did you request a smooth HH? I know Aero has various finishes and you can opt for smooth HH; just wondering if the HH on your A-2 is naturally smooth...
Reminds me of a true story where a B-17 crew had their plane and A-2 jackets painted with "Murder Incorporated". The plane was shot down, the crew captured, and the jacket art made for instant propaganda for the Germans. The USAAF high command went ballistic over the embarrassment and ordered...
Dinerman, that orphan A-2 looks like an old Willis & Geiger. They used that large-puller Scovill zip and had that distinctive grayish-taupe rayon lining.

Just got back from DC and a visit to the National Air and Space Museum. Thought everyone might like afew pics of Gen. Clare Chennault's original A-2 along with his Flying Tiger blood chit number 0001.
Andy and Platon at BK are always sourcing new and better leather as well as updating designs and details in their line of jackets. BK jackets just keep getting better and better! I will definitely be ordering one of their A-2's in the future!
At some point during the war(42/43) the US mandated a Army/Navy flight jacket design for both services in an attempt to save time and money. The ANJ3 and ANJ4 were the resulting jackets.
One was a combination of the A-2 and G-1 intermediate jackets while the ANJ4 was a conglomeration of the B-3...
Real McCoys used to do a nice repro M-444 but discontinued it a while back. US Authentic does a reasonably accurate interpretation of the M-444 (as did Willis and Geiger in the 1980's) though nowhere near an exact replica of any known wartime maker.
Personally I like the Navy's M-444/445 much...
As the proud owner of a new BK M-422, I can attest to the quality of their work and their fantastic leather! Already planning my next BK jacket.
Good luck Andy!!!
I have the Wolverine 1000 mile and had my local shoe repair guy add a rubber half-sole; now they're perfect! No slippage and very comfortable (even for my wide feet!).
I also bought a pair of the Thorogood Boerum Hilll boots (on-line) and they are a bit narrow. Probably try to have them...
Hey Brett,
Jacket is the Willis and Geiger model in a standard size 48. The fit is perfect! The leather is still new and firm in the photos but in afew days it'll soften up and conform even more closely to my shape. I love the break-in period of a brand new jacket.
Guys,
Just received my BK M-422 jacket (Willis&Geiger version) and in a word: PERFECT!
The photos just don't do this jacket justice. The goatskin is very grainy and with nice reddish undertones (exactly what I was hoping for when I ordered it after checking out a leather sample that Andy sent...
If l can add my 2 cents on The Cockpit vintage G-1: it has a cool washed goatskin hide with alot of grain and some hand burnished areas where the reddish undercoat comes thru and it has scalloped pocket flaps and a vintage-looking "blond" mouton collar. But just about anyone who knows the...
If anyone has a Willis and Geiger backpack (rucksack) for sale (in any condition), please PM or e-mail me.

Thank you very much.
