1. I've always understood the vent holes to function more to allow air out when you're putting the jacket on and wearing it (rather than trapping air and making the jacket 'balloon').
2. Nah - you'll just look daft.
3. Capeskin isn't particularly strong - well worn/supple goat would do the trick.
Not for me - 30/31" inseam means that I don't need to look any shorter in the leg with rolls of denim at the bottom.
Interestingly, did a very unscientific poll on campus today. Lots of young people, wide range of ages (most 19-25 bracket), cultural backgrounds. Plenty of denim on show, but...
As I said before, aged hides aren't to everybody's taste, but this looks very convincing in the flesh. The biggest effect on the goatskin is to make it very supple (plenty of body, but excellent drape), which I've not encountered before despite having owned many veg tanned goat A-2s and an...
Cuffed jeans are fine until the cuff consumes half your shin...
An untucked shirt with a jacket is...ah...don't even go there... You're this far away from your trousers framing your backside and a cap worn sideways ;-)
Hi
Sorry for the delay.
My .50 cal A-1 (size 44) measures out at:
Pit-to-pit = 62.5 cm
Front length = 59 cm
Shoulders = 50.5 cm
Back length = 65 cm (from top of back panel to bottom of waistband)
Arm length = 65 cm (including knitted cuff)
The shoulders are nippier than an A-2 with similar...
I applaud the sentiment, to use up the stock, but I'm not convinced it works in this market, where the 'perfect' finish of the hide and flawless nature of the jackets is so often commented upon FL.
You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person! I blow my nose at you, so-called Ah-thoor Keeng, you and all your silly English K-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-niggits! [makes taunting gestures at them]
No problem. They don't vary much - I've had three 44 (two R and one L); those I've had were similar.
The waist is more trim than an A-2, but not nipped in like a G-1.
Measurements to follow.
