A-1 Jacket / A1 Flying Jacket - The ultimate Golden Era flying accessory!

Preliminary images of a custom order for a Type A-1 from Bill Kelso (Victory capeskin, size 44) subtly modified from standard to include older style pocket flaps, single button collar and buttoned waistband. Review to follow on VLJF when I have it in hand - please direct questions on FL to Andy...

Bill Kelso Werber 42-1402-P (in Antique Victory Horsehide) Size 40 (part the first)

This is the second post on behalf of Matt (showing his Bill Kelso Werber 42-1402-P A-2). As before, just a brief visit - please direct any questions/comments (Majormajor) to Andy F. For FL membership, I have no stake in BK (not a shill, etc., etc.) and I won't be participating in any...

Bill Kelso Custom AN-J-3 (in Victory Horsehide) Size 40

Just visiting to post on behalf of Matt, who is the owner of the BK jacket, but not a member here, please direct any questions to Andy F who can respond on behalf of Bill Kelso. Matt wished to respond to FL members who were keen to see a BK jacket on a customer. He also owns a BK Werber A-2...

This is the Type A-1 for which I've been waiting.

Thank you for your sage advice, I for one am humbled by it. :D;) Although, if you look at the ELC and GW versions of the A-1 that I've posted previously (and the most recent Superior Flight Apparel/Norshor Leather, Real McCoys and Buzz Rickson) there are placed on the same stitch line; Aero do...

Well, I guess that if it's in capitals it must be important?? I'm in HE so haven't received teacher training, but I'm a Reader, so I guess I have the first part sorted? Now, just need to apply myself to the understanding bit...

MM, I get it now...you don't like the pockets?? Then don't buy the jacket, it's your prerogative. Along with nick123, I think they've done an excellent job in recreating the A-1. If you want to rush to adopt the low ground and have the last word that's also fine, but the inverted snobbery isn't...

:eusa_doh: MM, am I missing something? Are you the same poster who took such delight in claiming credit for rearranging the pockets/recolouring the Aeronaught released by Aero, derived from a 1920's original? ... Hello?? [huh]

Yes, in HE - any other stereotypes that you can offer? Perhaps a chip on the other shoulder would balance things out a bit? :D;)

Thanks you're a gent, somebody else rattled your cage this evening, or is this all for my benefit?

[huh] Oh, take a step back MM, have a drink and stop taking the piss. Real examples of A-1 jackets are as rare as wit in this thread, so (oh why bother? I teach for a living, but truly I give up here...). Move along, nothing to see here, buy an Aero, buy an Aero... Happy now? [huh]

Well MM, if you want the high pockets then this is the capeskin USN 37J1. Not for me (the torso is relatively short so higher pockets upset the balance), but some people like them.

Actually there are four ...count 'em...(Type A-1, D pocket, Waldo Pepper, and AN-J-3). All have come up on VLJF and Facebook and might be of interest on this forum. Don't make me laugh... As I said previously, I have a particular interest in the Type A-1 as I've been involved in the...

This one is from true capeskin I believe (I.e. Domestic South African). It's also of a good weight and irregular grain, just like the originals.
