Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Wow, that is a work of art. If I had seen it I might have picked it up for sculptural display purposes. Thanks so much for posting it.

Does This Qualify As a "Holy Grail" Item?

Ouch. That's a live auction. I'd sure be upset if I were bidding on that item! Also I suspect Himmelator will be more interested in this one than Marc.

    Crofut & Knapp Tales

Where/in what design are the ventilation holes? I don't see them in the pix. Fascinating chunk of felt ya got there. I trust you'll take off the brim binding to find out... or bring it to an x-ray machine?

    Stetson Austral....THE ORIGINAL

The Fray is the sweat band manufacturer. Note that the logo says, "Improved Sweat". There is a thread dedicated to this feature (to which this hat should be added). Extremely nice and interesting hat. I have also never seen a "corrected" reorder sticker. The hat is nice and clean, too...

    Tripoli Grand Prix 37/38

Okay, the expertise here is matched by my lack of expertise in the history of automobile racing. But I'm still very impressed.

Source for replacement liners and sweatbands for Vintage Stetons?

I recommend pursuing a quality "generic" installed by someone who knows what he or she is doing. You'll get a better sweat band installed right.

    Tripoli Grand Prix 37/38

Wow. I post an obscure film clip from Libya in the 30s and within an hour someone here can post not only the make of the stingy hat a guy is wearing, but his name and pertinent information. He's not even famous. I hope people appreciate the expertise we see here from time to time!

A New Hat for Johnny Depp watchers to want.

Let me make clear (as it appears necessary) that was a joke. I'm not really trying to sell this Milan or you would see it in the Classifieds section. I may change my mind if people on the street start making Depp comments. But I suspect they won't. A populace who generally can't tell a...

A New Hat for Johnny Depp watchers to want.

Eeek. It's quite similar to my Resistol: Maybe it's time to put this roomy 5/8 puppy in the 'Bay...

    Tripoli Grand Prix 37/38

No, nothing about what's going on there now. This is an amazing video showing the 1937/38 (Mussolini-sponsored) race. Check out the hats, among other things (hence locating this thread under hats). In particular, the stingy hat with a back bow at about 2:48. Not a style I would expect for...

    Post New Hats Here!

It would be more perfect if it were a 7 1/2 Long Oval. But it is extremely nice.

Where can I find this style of hat??

Remember you can clean the hat ribbon and bow on your old hat and put it on your new one, if you love the look. It looks like a nicer ribbon than most.

    Post New Hats Here!

This is a good picture of something I've been wondering about for a while. A couple of my older, thicker, denser hats have a divot like this. I have always assumed they were moth bites, but there is something about them I like. You don't see divots like this in newer (50s and newer) hats...

    Post New Hats Here!

Wow, great hat. And it's a 7 1/2. Let me know if you decide you can't stand the color and it needs a new home! We can probably work out a trade. But before you decide it's not you, don't forget you can try different "bashes" (as jtl did with his). Probably you just need a turquoise string...

$268 shoes. Outrageously not worth it?

Neuman: Newman: The Wesco boots could cost less if you get lucky and find a pair that fits you on their Factory Seconds list.

Only the second Buckaroo I've ever seen. Maybe you can add pictures to this thread when it arrives?

    Join "The Fray"

The Fray logo seems to claim a Jan 1st 1878 patent date, but does not carry the patent number. Has anyone looked up the patent?
