Good Wear A-2 For The Big Guy For Sale

Wow, I think that's what I paid for my GW A-1, custom for me. Price of some new Aeros, too. If you want to go to about half that, I'd be interested. I mean no offense- I know prices have gone up on GWs, but so has John's skill and this is a used jacket, made custom for you. If others...

Survey: Your Favorite A-2 Jacket (Original or Repro, Expensive or Cheap as Hell!)

Odd. What exactly *is* that? It's not a WWII original and it's not a Chapman. Unless I'm mistaken, Chapman doesn't have labels with his company name on them (and anyway he's not in NJ). Did he get new labels or is he going to get a lawyer?

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Congratulations on a nice hat. I was just curious, not bidding on it. Way too small for me. I'm too thick to get the hints, so I don't know whose yard/arm that is. That's okay. Hope all are happy with the deal.

    The Imperial Stetson/ 1940

Whew (pats sweat off his brow). Nice hat. Alan, of course you remember my home refurb Imperial. Mine must be later than yours, but more interestingly, quite a different style. Looks like yours has a crisper felt. Certainly a different style of sweatband. Certainly a different binding...

    Jack Vettriano

Interesting to see. The subject matter is vintage but the style is so quintessentially 80s. To my eyes jarring. I like the Bonneville painting, but the rest don't do it for me. Thanks for sharing, though. Had only seen one of these before (I think someone uses one as an avatar image here?).

Bespoke: The Mens' Bowler Hat Revisited

I don't think so. While I grant you the public's knowledge of hats is a sad thing to contemplate, the bowler was the hat of most folks back in the day. The top hat or homburg might be associated with bankers and the ruling class. I believe the reason people notice bowlers more than fedoras...

    Stetson Stuff

This is interesting, at least to me. Specifically the wording, "Bought of JOHN B. STETSON COMPANY". Remember the odd wording on my Clear Nutria Stetson? Repeated on the front of the sweat: So was "buy of" or "bought of" a common construction back in those days?
