Excellent fit Fanch; lookin' good! Years ago, I had a G&B Mk 31 goatskin Historic model A-2. I bought the 42T even though I'm usually a 46 Long in a sport coat and in most other A-2 jackets.
A very comfortable jacket; loved that silk lining! Alas I sold it later on to help fund a LW purchase...
Real nice acquisition there, Breton! Well worth the wait (and hassles) I'd venture. It'll look even better after afew months of hard use.
Wear it in good health!
I ordered a RMNZ A-2 once. I'm 6' 1" and weigh 210 and found the size 46 that I'd ordered way too snug and short for my taste so I returned it. I felt the sleeves were a tad narrow (and I'm no Arnold Schwarzenegger in the biceps department!). Also the HH leather was very shiny (which might have...
Scott, one alternative to an iron-on stencil is to go "old school" and buy a letter stencil kit (Office Max or Staples has it, both re-usable metal or cheaper cardboard) and a black fabric marker (less bleed on clothing since its specialized for fabric; available from any arts and crafts store)...
Brett, two years ago I bought a Cockpit HH A-2 from American Equipage; I didn't like the jacket so I exchanged it for a Cockpit Vintage G-1, no problemo. Of course, my transaction was an exchange not a refund so I'm not sure what went awry with your refund request.
Hope it all works out for you.
I'm 6'1" and weigh 210 with a 43" chest; I have had several G&B jackets, the A-2 model, and I went with the 42 Tall.
I would try the 42T; if it doesn't fit right, G&B has a good return/exchange policy. Good luck!
There are different species of goats that certain tanneries (and jacket makers) utilize. There are domestic goats (thinner hide with even grain), and Wild Goat or Mountain Goat (thicker hides with heavier, pronounced grain). The thicker stuff would probably provide the best abrasion resistance...
Here's a pic of my new Buzz N-1 (Dec. evening in NYC, 30 degrees but I was snug as a bug).
My N-1 is a size XXL and measures 26" across the chest (zipped), just for comparison.
Very cool jacket Scott. I just bought a Buzz Rickson N-1 in a size XXL (I'm usually a 46 Long) which gives me room to layer (as this is my winter jacket, it's roomy enough for a thick sweater or fleece). Mine has the USN stencil which I like (I'm in the US Navy Reserve so the stencil is a real...
Ah, of course! Snake's jacket from "Escape from New York". A beaut!
I'm pretty sure Andy can do the Duke jacket in any hide/color you like. He's very open to customizing any of the BK leather jackets.
Even watching old 1940's movies that feature characters in leather jackets, the leather seems thinner with more drape and flexibility then some of the super heavy-duty (4oz +) HH and steer hide jackets being built today by some manufacturers that seek to emulate 1920-1950 era leather jackets.
I received some leather samples from Amanda at AL for a future project; the CXL steer is some nice stuff but they also have Horween FQHH, making the choice of hide for a jacket order that much more difficult!
I usually wear a 46/48 depending on the style of jacket (and manufacturer) and the XXL was a perfect fit with enough room for a thick sweater to be worn.
The sizes for BR do vary; the N-1 XXL measures 26" pit to pit. I tried on a size 46 BR B-10 jacket at the store and it was a bit snug (and way...
