Circa. 1954, this looks like some sort of bacteria under the microscope. Label is 'Metcalf Cravats' [/IMG]

World Peace.... I'm not for sure if that's what the design might mean. It's in fair condition. The label says: 'Made and Styled in California for Penny's.' [/IMG]

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

The print itself could be reproduced, but the material/construction could not. I wouldn't find that very appealing.

    Your Favorite Paintings

I've always loved the work of Grant Wood. I was born and raised in the part of Iowa where he lived and painted back in the 1930s. I have this print hanging on my wall. 'Death on Ridge Road' is a bit different from most of his work. Painted in 1935, it was once owned by Cole Porter. [/IMG]

Are You a "Serious" Collector? The Categorization of Fedora Loungers.

I started out 40s then, like real history, I moved on to 50s and then 60s. Now I'm all over board. I just can't stay stuck in one period for the rest of my life....that's sort of odd to do that.

It always fascinates me when I find a tie with a label of a small town clothing store....like this one from out in the Great Plains...and wonder how it ended up a thousand miles away.

I have several from an estate sale in the past, but they are not my particular favorites. I find them too wide. Actually, they are the widest ties that I have. [/IMG]

Here's the gold-painted one. There are two of these birds (ibis?) on the tie. It's a late-50s labeled 'Styled by Rapson' and '24 Karat Gold Golden Touch.' [/IMG]
