I had a close look at your photos and I can't see any cracks or a problem there, just graining and wrinkles. If cracked there should be lifting edges and the base colour showing through. Any problem must be microscopic in size and near invisible to the naked eye.
A remake is a no brainer unless the alterations are simple like arm length etc. In my business, my mistakes are righted at my cost. Anyhow the maker can still recoup most of his losses by selling the faulty jacket. And they will be small compared to the hit his reputation might suffer.
I always thought that the pebble like grainy steerhide finish is a characteristic of bullhide. Apparently the skin around under the Bulls throat is also very grainy. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could expand or discount this. I guess it can be faked too or maybe some breeds are more...
Personally I like that looser fit. I have a couple of A2's that fit like this and one other trimmer fitting. Here is a film clip with some original looser fitting jackets.
Could have also been eaten by silver fish. Hate the little buggers. Over here far more of a problem than moths. If just minor nibbles best to sew them up or they may expand. A neatly sewn job will be hard to niotice.
Now that this can of worms has been brought up how about the "tyre marks" left on seams by the unthinking sewing machine foot on otherwise perfect looking jackets? Seen it on all the best jackets. Not that I think this is a defect but I just want to alert the OCD sufferers just in case they...
I have two of those Levi's Big E denim jackets made in Japan during the mid 90's. Repro's of the 1936 and an early 50's models. The quality is absolutely outstanding and as close to perfection as is possible. They are now developing a beautiful natural vintage fade. These are collectors...
I also checked all mine last evening. Only one jacket has the zipper leather waviness and it is goat hide. Never considered it a flaw and IMO it one of the most nicey put together of my jackets.
That is just so sad. Unfortunately there are opportunist thiefs who target letter boxes. Seems a matter of luck these days. The postal service should take more responsibility and care for protecting customers goods. You should have a good case in getting your money back at the least. That...
Steve S makes those jackets for Headwind. He made a grizzly for me and its great value. All measurements made to my requirements and choice of materials.
Myrna Loy had a long interesting career before she became a real star after making THE THIN MAN. She played many quirky roles in the pre code era, often cast as a Mexican or Asian with a touch of vampishnes and an evil streak. Nothing at all like her later polished airbrushed roles. Two...
The mouton Grizzly's don't look as crazy as they do on photos when actually wearing them. Not so sure about the hair on hide ones. They look super cool 1930's IMO. I am by no means a wild dresser and I feel very comfortable wearing them. Best suited to a trim athletic figure to pull the...
I haven't worn mine in the rain but these jackets were originally marketed to outdoor sporty types and skiers. So they may get wet but should hold up well unless soaking wet.
