I am quite certain I did see two A2 's at a second hand clothing shop in Melboune on the same day in the early 90's. Not into military jackets then but I looked them over closely as they were different to the usual stuff but both were too small for me. Both had miltary type labels but...
Aero of Scotland sell some vintage reproduction Corduroys. See link. They match up well with vintage clothing and leather. I have about a dozen jean and vintage cut corduroy trousers. More comfortable than denim jeans.

Kangaroo would perhaps be one of the last remaining wild beasts culled commercially in a sustainable manner for both meat and hides in the world these days. No scientific farming here.
I have an original M422A and quite suitable in Southern Australian weather for about 6 months wear a year. The jacket has only a thin rayon lining. Should be OK in weather under 15C and ideal at 10C. Not much different to my A2's though obviously the fur collar is warmer around the neck.
Buy some activated charcoal granules used for fish tank filters. Pour them in to a muslin bag. Hang bag inside jacket and place the lot in a plastic rubbish bag for a week. Later when hanging in your wardrobe have the muslin bag with charcoal hanging inside the jacket to help stop smells...
Evocative thread and its great you and your partner both have common interest in the vintage and can share these experiences together. Can you tell tell briefly about some of your great finds?
I understand some makers will attach blood chits on the inside stitched up as pockets. I believe AERO do this. Perhaps not to your requirements though.
Not sure if this saying has been mentioned before but "for the love of Mike" seemed to have appeared in literally hundreds of old Hollywood films from the 1920's to early 30's then almost completely disappeared. To me it appears used mostly as a substitute for profane expletives that would have...
I would say a double breasted jacket can look great on shorter people with certain caveats but I do see your point. A good figure with no bulging stomach, and a traditional trim and short fitting cut will work. Not in a modern blousey fit.
Snitz Edwards was quite memorable in the THE THIEF OF BAGHDAD as Douglas Fairbanks partner in crime. Creighton Hale was also in great demand during the silent era for light comic relief playing foppish roles.
An interesting offbeat "sidekick" was Clarence Muse(Sam) in MASSACRE 1934. He plays Richard Barthlemess's negro butler/driver. Barthlemess plays a wealthy Indian rodeo star(Joe Thunderhorse) wiho has a harem of white girlfriends and is on a mission to seek justice for his exploited tribe. Witty...
As an aside, about 5 years ago, an old tip was discovered near my house during excavations for a new building. The area was once a centre for shoe manufacturing. In the tip were many shoes dating from the late 19th century. Going through them I was astounded in how good condition most were in...
Current museum conservation techniques are relatively new in history. I doubt there was climate and humidity controls 50 or more years ago. Once upon a time they even used to put lacquer on paintings to preserve them. A museum leather artefact that is say 150 to 200 years old most likely would...
Perhaps we all need a temperature controlled wardrobe and humidifier and only wear leather products in dim light?
I don't consider myself an expert but I have noticed over the years that well cared for and dressed leather items I owned last far longer than others that were never looked after...
Never been a big fan of him. His onscreen persona was always too FIGJAM for my liking. I did like him somewhat in NIGHT NURSE and in MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY. For me, mostly remembered for the lame MANHATTAN MELODRAMA where his part is of a repentant gangster happily going to the gallows because...
