It is documented the first A-2 contract was awarded to P Goldsmith Sons Co in 1931. It was contract number 31-1897 and was for only 25 jackets. These 25 jackets have never been seen in person and none are known to exist in any collection or museum.

Come to find out, one of the lift operators at the mountain also collects jackets and has some originals plus some BR, ELC, and Lost worlds jackets. Small world. He spotted the A-1 right away.
I have been wearing my Headwind A-1 a lot these days. This picture was taken yesterday at Mt Hood, OR where we are enjoying some beautiful spring skiing this month. Temps were in the 60's.

As well as distortion of visual landing systems on runways. The cockpit is not the place for polarized lenses. Especially now with visual displays and glass cockpits. There was a AC (Advisory Circular) put out by the FAA on this years ago.

Today it's my Headwind Mfg Co Admiral's jacket (low pocket version). This jacket is made out of Tan Waxed Sheep Nubuck which provides a residue free water / stain resistant surface and a look that is very close to the famous Admiral Ballentine's jacket.
