What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Headwind Mfg Co A-1 Vest. This is the historic 1927 Gordon & Ferguson A-1 pattern. I believe it is perfectly suited to make a nice looking vintage vest. Genuine Horn main buttons, and vintage Casein inner buttons put an authentic and luxurious touch on this piece.

The USN 37J2 (Deck) Jacket - A Mysterious and Rare Bird

Copy that. That is true. The first one, the 37J2 is obviously based on the 37J1 pattern. That must be the reason for the model number being similar. The original intent of making the jacket is still a question. The deck jackets deviated greatly from the style in the next few versions of the N-1...

The USN 37J2 (Deck) Jacket - A Mysterious and Rare Bird

I would say 99% chance it's the same jacket. It's just too close to be something different. I believe the lining is the same according to the specs. The question is why call it a 37J2 when the aviators jacket was a 37J1. It seems that if it was planned to be used as a deck jacket, it would...

The USN 37J2 (Deck) Jacket - A Mysterious and Rare Bird

I have heard it mentioned and always was curious about this jacket. Did it exist? Was it just another amended 37J1? Recently I obtained the USN Specifications for all the 37J1 series jackets! The leather 37J1 all the way through to the 37J2. Here it is. Many have seen it. It has been around but...

Aero Hookless - solid brass or?..

Not sure where those are coming from but essentially if they can stamp the Talon on there, they can stamp the made in USA on there as well. Could be not necessarily actually made in the USA just because it has the stamp.

Aero Hookless - solid brass or?..

Talon will do it, but it is a 10,000 unit minimum or something close to that. If you have $50,000 to drop on a zipper order, they will do it.

Aero Hookless - solid brass or?..

This is an interesting topic because there is some contention between the materials used on those early Hookless zippers and the bell shaped Talons that came shortly after. The Brass ones were.....well, Brass. Where the nickel ones are concerned though, they were nickel plated. The base metal is...

    Headwind Aviatrix

Yes that was a pleasant surprise during the research. I love that style of Hookless slider, so I was happy to put them on these jackets! These are solid reproductions, it should last a lifetime if properly used.

    Headwind Aviatrix

This jacket was the result of years of research. I have compiled an extensive collection of rare photos and documents which helped to nail down the all the finite details of the jacket. Most notable are the fantail Talon hookless zipper, handmade style button holes, under arm gussets, vintage...

    Headwind Aviatrix

Looks great! I have to say that the fit is really close to Amelia's jacket in that famous photo: The Capeskin is very supple and flexible. It should loosen with wear and break in quickly. I will post some additional photos below that I took before I shipped it out. Regards, Jay

Yes those were traditionally used to loop horse rains through so you could lead a horse, and still hold a riffle at the ready. No just kidding! I don't know but it is an interesting mystery.

'Top Gun: Maverick': Patches On Tom Cruise's Jacket Spark Controversy

I have seen it many times and being a USN vet that worked on the flight deck, it's a fun movie for me. Unrealistic? yes. Fun? Yes! These days you can buy the DVD for $10 so why not? The G-1 in question is Maverick's father's. The patches are from the Vietnam ERA. His father died flying a...
