I doubt women were considered at all with the redesign of the A-2. I believe it was the result of an attempt at a modern fit. A mistake in my opinion. If you look at the G-1, it hasn't really changed much since the 1940's. Generally the WWII M422 jackets I have owned fit just like the same size...
Cool! would have liked to see yellow thread like so many of their boots. I think it would have really added character and much more of a likeness to other Doc Marten products.
Thanks! Being a size 40, I find quite a few vintage jackets in my size and I'm thankful for that. I am interested to see if more medium to small sized people are into vintage jackets because of availability factor. So far though the sizes seem pretty even.
Well maybe. 185 seems a bit big to fit size 40 with a 21.5" chest. I wear a size 40 G-1 and I'm 5'8 and 150#. But if you wear other "Military Fit" G-1's in 40 it may work for you.
27" length would be too long for me but probably perfect for you at that height.
That's a sweet jacket though...
Yes I would wonder too. I agree it is long for an average size 40 M-422-G1 type jacket. I wonder how consistent the Ostermann sizes are throughout the contract jackets. I have seen some G-1 contracts all over the place, but still within specs. 1 1/2" is a lot of wiggle room.
For a size 40...
I know the seller. He knows his stuff inside and out. I have seen him completely disassemble an original M422, change out panels from donor period correct jackets, and re-assemble it with no evidence of the work done. He even hand stitches through the original stitch holes when needed.
With the...
Well they didn't make Long sizes so that is not true. It is probably a bigger size. The later G-1 contracts have a tolerance of +1" - 1/2" on length. Still though that would only put a size 40 at 26" max. The modern specs state 22 1/4" without the knits. Add about 3" for knits and a 40 should be...
I have had 2. I spent a little less. While in the USN I got one for $10 from a guy who was transferring out. It came in handy in Japan and Korea during the winter on the flight line.
My current one came from ebay and it is an identical issued parka to the one I had in the Navy. I got it for a...
Welcome and the jacket looks great! The patches look cool and I like the fact that it is a civilian style G-1. I don't think it would work to have the civilian patches on an issued contract G-1. It just would not look right. The collar looks very nice as well. That was a nice touch. You may want...
