Nick123 I'm not sure I agree with your generalization. My Good Wear A1 shows some serious wear in the capeskin.
It's good quality, but it will wear holes sooner or later. But the original poster's concern was aesthetic, not practical.
In that sense, I agree- ordering an expensive jacket sight...
Sometimes I muse on how persnickity people can be on this forum. But then as you say a jacket with a price tag
north of a grand should be pretty nice. Over 20 years ago when I bought my first Johnson jacket I was bothered
by the way the front panels matched. Alan said it was the last of the...
Collar doesn't look too bad yet. Worst case you can get that replaced by Johnson Leather and still have a very reasonably priced jacket.
Yes, Pecard. Use your fingers to rub on a thin coat- just enough to cover, no extra. Then after 24 hours or so wipe down the jacket with
a cloth and see...
Wow. Hard to believe that Bedford is 15 years old.
...also hard to believe that the software upgrade to the Lounge lost my profile picture (now fixed with a new image).
Worf, if you are buying it, I won't bid (sorry Dinerman). I have one close enough to it

around size 50.
Ah. He has before, guess he can't get ahold of it now.

I think Technovox's jacket is a CXL/veg tan combo? Did you manage to check that out?
I have had a similar experience with the leather sweatband of some vintage hats.
The leather looked perfect, or nearly unworn, but after one or two days wearing the
hat, the leather disintegrates. Perhaps one can save the leather by treating in advance,
perhaps not. I suspect I treated the...
Met up with VictorShadow last night. I showed him my Aero Hercules (originally seen here),
my wrinkly old Johnson,
and one of my Johnson D-Pocket jackets.
Nice guy- good luck with your jacket (and thanks for the beer!).
With weather still well into the 80s, I'm not so inclined to lug multiple heavy leather jackets on BART to SF for a work day...
I could do it tonight or tomorrow afternoon in SF or the East Bay. I can meet with one jacket next Wednesday after 5.
Next weekend is out and the week of 9/14 will...
