    Experiences with leather jacket makers.

Since the search still isn't great on this forum, I'd suggest arranging information, good and bad, by maker, not by whether it's positive or negative. If I am researching a jacket maker, I will pursue a thread on that maker, not on all negative experiences for all jacket makers. Kinda like the...

    D-Pocket leather jackets

It's just the crummy photo, with flash. All the panels are the same leather.

    D-Pocket leather jackets

A crap, but better, picture of what the Johnson d-pocket looks like. Apologies for the model.

    D-Pocket leather jackets

I'll get some better pix up soon. You can't tell how it fits from that. It's fairly heavy, but lighter than the Aero I have or my first Johnson (http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?35355-Johnson-Leather-jacket&p=709405&viewfull=1#post709405). It's soft - not at all stiff- and with...

    D-Pocket leather jackets

I happened to be in Johnson Leathers a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately they happened to be having one of their two yearly sales (around xmas and during their anniversary month of June). Even more unfortunately they suddenly have a d-pocket offering. Apparently the design was...

    Overcoat on a budget?

Seems okay, if a bit busy and formless, but it's hard to tell how well it is made. I'm with everyone else. I have some awesome overcoats (I know a woman who will tell you I have too many) and never paid more than $300 for any of them and some for less than $100. I'm a difficult size, too...

Strickland Vintage Watches - Wow Factor

Nice, but pricey. I'd rather go to a local watch repair guy and see what he's got in.

Johnson Leather Inc Jackets and Repair Work

Love that D pocket! Edward, I was discussing the Johnson Leathers web site with Alan a couple of months ago and he said he doesn't care how lousy the site is. He's glad to do orders off the web or over the mail, but his preference is to meet the customer in person and talk it over. He feels...

Red Wing Heritage 2936 Lineman Boot (just bought them) - any Thoughts on the Wabasha

Sigh. Red Wing used to be the place to go if you needed an unusual size. It appears they have abandoned that niche. I recommend Wesco.

Leather Jacket refurbishment in the SF/Bay Area recommendation?

These seem like good questions to ask of Johnson Leathers. Maybe you need to talk to a different person on the staff? Ask for Alan. I don't know of a better place in the SF Bay Area.

CAVANAGH Perfect 50's Taupe 7-3/8 XLO

People are always kvetching here about how there aren't big hats or aren't LO hats. Here's a classic hat in a difficult size in great condition for less than it would sell for on eBay. What's going on, people? Robert, if you're interested in a trade I might have something not in your...

    Selfmade hat storage systems?

Reminds me of vintage theater seat hat racks. I like it!

    Evil Denim Los Angeles

Right, that's what I meant to type... ;) So the denim is not re-used, in the sense of salvage. whew.

    Evil Denim Los Angeles

Wow, after reading the Kelso A-1 thread I can see someone got up on the wrong side of the bed. BTW, anyone know why the Evil Denim folks say "salvage" denim, rather than "selvedge"? Is it, in fact, salvaged from somewhere?

    Evil Denim Los Angeles

I did, and nothing answered my questions. Appreciate the comment, nabottle. Now I'm thinking they just don't make one big enough for me.

Anyone else care to comment on fit? I take a (modern) size 50 jacket. Looks like these puppies go to "52", which I am thinking will fit me, but I'm not sure. I don't mind washing in cold and hanging dry. Same for the jeans- how close to Carhartt do they fit? TIA!
