Bonnet Hair Dryers
I love Value Village! I got my soft bonnet dryer there for $5.99. I also got a table mounted Singer Spartan sewing machine for $14.99. It wasn't in great shape, but I just finished fixing it up this week. It's shiny like a new penny, and sews wonderfully. -

I'm using prefolds with covers. It's not bad. I know my grandma had two-three kids in cloth at one time and they didn't have a washing machine. I don't know how she did it.- MarieAnne

What's wrong with your sewing machine? What is it doing or not doing that's bad? What kind of machine do you have? I just fixed my Singer Spartan; the feed dogs just needed to be lowered. And I fixed an old treadle sewing machine; that one just needed a bit of love.- MarieAnne

It looks like there is a bit of slack near the armpit area, like a crease. Have you tried shoulder pads? That might do the trick. Great job resizing the pattern!- MarieAnne

How did they keep their hair-do's from week to week?
Hehe, like this? And on the topic of hair products. I find using lot's of hairspray, and pomade to tame fly-aways, makes my hair fall faster. The less products I use, the longer my curls last. I don't have to wash as often and my hair is lighter. -

The silk scarf would definitely help, but I think you need to experiment with your setting method. My hair also falls pretty quickly when I use hot rollers. Have you tried doing a wet set? Wet sets are the longest lasting for me. Everyone's hair is different of course. Do you know how the... -

I think the satin is silk. I know it was not synthetic and it wasn't cheap. I don't anticipate ever having to wash it once it's made. It's for a Christening gown for my daughter.
