Lillemor, you have the cutest pair of lips ever! So well defined too. They look a bit like Loretta Young's

or Kate Moss

and I'm positive they'd look fab in matte lipstick! You can always dab on some lip balm/ salve if they feel dry.
P.S. Lenah - so pretty!

Great Red Lip Video Tips

Not vintage, but definitely good and useful tips for any lip application.

http://www.makeupmakesmehappy.com/home/get-the-perfect-red-lips-with-senior-mac-artist-fatima-t.html

I always use a balm first (especially for those drying matte shades like MAC's ruby-woo) and the use of foundation/powder is a definite must.

I do think how she applies the liner over the entire lip prior to lining is interesting, Usually I line the outside first and then fill in with pencil, then use a brush for the lipstick, so I want to try this approach to see which I prefer.

Hi! There are new Revlon displays all about "matte" and they have new matte Reds. I bought the "Really Red". I am wearing it today for the first time and I LOVE it! It's matte, but not chalky or the sort that you can't rub your lips together. The color is great, a nice everyday red. I will probably go back and get the other reds they had too, I love it so much.

I bought the "In the Red" a few weeks ago but it was too dark. I loved that it was matte so when I found it at WalMart for ~$7, I bought the "Really Red". It's perfect! I was looking for the display and I was freaking out because I couldn't find it. I thought it was already gone. But then I noticed they made a permanent display on the Revlon rack. I guess it did really well and Revlon is keeping the collection. I might buy a NudeAttitude soon. Makes me think of Ingrid Bergman in Anastacia. http://www.revlon.com/ProductCatalog/ProductLine.aspx?CollectionID=38

can anyone recommend a really good lip liner?

I really like the Revlon Colorstay in Clear. I have so many different shades of red, and this one is compatible with all of them.

I've discovered a new red that I love. I've actually had it in my stash, just never got around to trying it out.

From time to time, makeup companies send me free makeup in hopes I will use it in a magazine editorial. So I came across this Lancome lipstick I had in my box o' gratis and boy, was it pretty! So here is Lancome's Color Fever "Red and Sensual Java":

It's a real tomato red. Very different from my "usual" reds

Rebecca, I love that shade on you! I think Lancome Colour Fever has a great texture too, I have Orange Fashionista 104 and I love it, it's not scary as it sounds, but a very warm oragey red. I'll have to try your shade now!

Oh, and I forgot to mention I love the look of Mac So Chaud, that's going to be my next purchase. Also Chanel Audace 58 looks very nice, this one is darker, more red. Texture wise the most wonderful thing I have ever put on - mind you, I haven't really tried that many things - is YSL Volupte. Not very vintage I have to say, but feels great on. Most of the colours are not good for me though, but there is one I got my eye on. There are also some bright reds available now through the range. Oh, I still need to get myself all these things that I covet! Why does everything have to be so expensive?!

Does anyone know a sheer true red that's not too glossy and has no glitter? I used one from The Body Shop, but it was Limited edition, sadly. :(
I just feel that the solid red matte lispticks are too much for daily wear for me.

I have 4 of the Revlon Matte collection. I love the Really Red best.
The best time to buy them is when the are BOGO Free at Walgreens or CVS. There are also lots of Revlon $1 and $2 off coupons and on the BOGO, you can use 2 coupons, making each lipstick about $2.00!!

Thank you CrazyDaisy! I have actually come to love it alot. I have a better picture of it, so you can see the depth of it. I think the bright light and my green top may have thrown the color off a bit :)

That's a great color on you exquisite bones. One of my makeup artist friends swears by that pencil and literally buys three at a time in case she runs out, LOL.
