Looking for opinions on which hide would be preferred in a 3/4 length, zip up, black jacket. Also open to Seal goat but haven't seen any long half belt styles made in it. Any photos would also help the cause.
I have three pairs of Beckmans and agree the sole is very firm / woodlike. They will eventually mold to your feet and provide support but will never feel cushiony. The only solution is an actual insole (super thin model) from RedWing. All others will take up too much room in the boot unless you...
The hide looks really nice. I'm also not a huge fan of the regular horween FQHH and prefer their Steer for the graining but this is another alternative. Question on the zipper....why does it stop so high up? I get the reason on longer jacket but 26 or so isn't a 3/4 length coat. Any concern how...
Thanks for the opinions guys. Leaning towards corduroy as the shape of the fabric would trap more air = insulate better. Strictly a winter coat here as I have others for lighter wear. Might go full cord throughout or cotton drill in the sleeves. Saving the moleskin for pocket linings.
So I sprayed some water (not soaking wet) on it and the results were positive. It helped the exposed fleece areas (cuffs, waist, collar) lay down / curl of some and look much better than the brand new wool. Now the question remaining is do I put some Pecards on it to protect/waterproof?
What would the effect of a little hot water treatment on a new D1 jacket / sheepskin be? Should it shrink the sleeves? Possibly change the the texture of the inside wool? Can you put Pecards on the outer skin? Just picked up a brand new jacket and don't want to screw it up!
Any photos of this being worn? Supposedly it's not as slim as the 30's HB which could be a good thing. Are the moleskin sleeves grabby on you shirt sleeves when putting it on?
Question regarding the handwarmer pockets on Aero's Sunburst. Are these actually usable or just deco? From the website photos, it appears the angle would be pretty akward to actually rest one's hands in. They definitely look nice, just find myself questioning th e functionality. Any photos of...
Looks good Plumbline! Same way I like my jackets to fit. Not a fan of the skin tight look. I also picked up an Alexander Drifter last week and it's a superb jacket, very functional two with the front pocket options.
Does anyone have firsthand experience with the Mulligan jacket design? It's fairly new and I haven't seen much info around here. Do the cargo pockets have hand warmer access from the side? It doesn't appear that way and I think it would be odd to not be able to put one's hands inside while...
That's what makes this site a great resource to jacket lovers. The voicing of ideas which when read back out loud, with other's opinions and experience can make the brain go Ah yea, now I see it. Since finding this site a few months back, I went one from one crappy jacket to now two quality...
Thanks robinray. Now I can see why deleting that bottom waist panel would look off. The front would be way to plain. I guess it works on the pioneer due to the raised front yoke vs flatstitched seam
If only it were that simple! I really like the three panel back design or just an open back plain back. However, I strongly prefer the front of the jacket when it's cut even across the bottom. Plus I believe the Dustbowl is a tad bit trimmer fitting than Pioneer correct?
