As long as your new and improved jacket fits, you should be good to go. I would be hesitant to alter anything from the basic design of your DB other than sleeves and body length if I were you.

Great looking jacket- still looks new yet extremely wearable and perfectly broken in for comfort.
Love the color too! I might just like this jacket more than the newer gusset back design.

Dustbowl or Hercules all the way... I think the Sunburst back is a wee bit too busy IMO

The sunburst looks best in a warm brown or reddish leather that has a lot of color variation, particularly if they arrange the panels such that the color seems to be radiating out from the back where the rays are emanating.
