I have a couple of Langlitz jackets and I find them to be great, but I would also look elsewhere for an A2. As others have suggested Goodwear here in Seattle does beautiful work. Aero and Eastman are also quite nice. If you don't want a strict repro, Aero will work with you to customize your...
Tony,
Great minds think alike! I have a Cheyenne on order, precisely (so I told my wife) because I need a longer coat!
You're right, the Langlitz brown is really dark and breaks in very nicely.
Ask him for the coat measurements and go from there. A pit to pit should give you a good idea.
FWIW, I have a Cheyenne on order. Normally I'm a 42 and Amanda recommended a 40.
Living in Seattle, most of the winter is in the 40's. I have an Aero B-6, but it really is too warm to wear most of the time. I wore it a lot in Canada and was comfortable in -5 degree weather. A B-3 would be REALLY warm.
For my (hopefully) go to winter coat, I have a Cheyenne on order with...
I like the sleeves to be around the knuckles, so that when I stretch out my arms, the sleeves don't ride up. However, I think it depends also on the style of the jacket. Both my jackets have pretty narrow sleeves and openings (one is a zip sleeve), so they don't ride down past the wrists. In...
I agree with the above. He likely will outgrow any jacket he has now. Buy a cheaper version now and maybe for his graduation spring for the more expensive jacket.
Also at his age, I would not have appreciated the difference in quality between a 200 and a 800 dollar jacket. I would have...
Tony, you're killing me!
LOL, in order to justify my purchase, I had to point out the differences to my wife!
I really like the brown leather. With time, it seems to have gotten darker and really builds a lot of character. One thing to take into account, Langlitz's brown leather will lose...
Griff,
I don't have a FQHH jacket, but everything that I've read points to it being as stiff as your steerhide. Why not go with a softer hide, such as vintage FQHH, mid-weight, or jerky?
Hey guys, I was wondering what the difference was in these coats in regards to fit and length. I remember reading that the stockman was supposed to be the more trim fit, but then Mark from Aero was saying the Cheyenne was the trimer fit. In terms of length, are they all the same?
Thanks
Griff,
That's really too bad. I agree that the jacket looks very discombobulated.
I would send Amanda your actual body measurements and ask her what dimensions she would recommend. Whenever I order a new jacket, I never go off the measurements of a jacket I already have, but instead rely on...
Here you can see the true sleeve length, which is to the knuckles.
When you order a zipless sleeve from Langlitz, they ask for your hand width, with and without the thumb. They make the jacket opening snug enough that when you slide your hand through the opening, the jacket sleeve will...
Remember that the jacket was only a week old in the pics, so the leather was still pretty stiff. Also the sleeves are pretty form fitting (for riding), so that they hug the arms. If I pull the sleeves down, they come to my knuckles. I'll post some pics later.
Thanks for the comments guys! The leather is really breaking in nicely. I'll post some pics in 6 months or so.
Elmonteman, Langlitz will use thinsulate if the customer requests it. There should be a serial number on the inside pocket along with the original owners name. If you call Langlitz...
Hey Eric,
That jacket sounds great. I also would not do a zip sleeve on that jacket, but just my opinion.
Are you sure about the length? I'm not sure, but that sounds short for that type of jacket. I'm 5'11", 175, size 42 suit and in the picture below, the jacket is 26" in the front and 27" in...
